The best way to describe the Praise Junkies is that we love what we do, and we’re always looking for our next fix. We are a five-piece band from Montreal that plays folk, country, rock, and surf music delivered with an acoustic pop feel. When we get together to work on our harmonies and arrangements, all that’s missing is the camp fire.
We bring with us a package of sweet songs, bittersweet harmonies, sing- alongs, toe taping grooves and a bit of humour all accompanied by our very own blend of energy on stage.
Each member of the band is bilingual, and we take turns singing our own songs in English and French. Band members are: Maya Bélanger, “Boniface” Benoît, Guilhem Loustalot-Forest, Catherine Remenda and Zane Remenda (yes, a brother and sister team). We play a variety of instruments, including guitars, bass, percussion, accordion, harmonica, banjo, mandolin, slide, ukulele and whatever else we can get our hands on. If it fits in the song, it fits in the band!
We’ve been playing in and around the city for over a year, and we’ve made many new friends so far. Now we feel that we are ready to look outside of Montreal.
The next step for the band is our debut album, which we expect to put out in the spring of 2010.

Ce qui résume le mieux les Praise Junkies : Nous aimons ce que nous faisons et sommes d'ailleurs toujours à la recherche de notre prochaine dose. Nous sommes un ensemble montréalais de cinq personnes qui joue de la musique folk, country, rock et surf rock le tout livré avec un son pop acoustique. Nous travaillons nos harmonies et nos arrangements lors de nos répétitions, il ne manque en fait que le feu de camp. Nous apportons dans notre besace un ensemble de mélodies accrocheuses, d’harmonies douces-amères, de chansons à réponses, de rythmes contagieux et d’humour, saupoudrés de notre mélange maison d’énergie scénique.
Chaque membre du groupe est bilingue, et nous chantons à tour de rôle nos chansons en français ou en anglais. Les membres du groupe sont Maya Bélanger, « Boniface » Benoît, Guilhem Loustalot-Forest, Catherine Remenda et Zane Remenda (oui, un frère et une sœur). Nous jouons un large éventail d’instruments, des guitares, de la basse, des percussions, de l’accordéon, de l’harmonica, du banjo, de la mandoline, de la guitare slide, du ukulélé et à peu près tout ce qui nous tombe sous la main. Si cela convient à la chanson, cela convient au groupe !
Cela fait maintenant environ un an que nous jouons à travers Montréal et avons rencontré bien des gens depuis. Nous nous sentons toutefois prêts à jouer en dehors de notre île.
La prochaine étape du groupe concerne notre premier album que nous souhaitons sortir au printemps 2010.
