About me: To the outside world, Chris Karas is a shy scholar, the son of a hard-working Greek contractor. But to his closest confidants he is the brilliant leader of the Pranksters, a secret society dedicated to combating the inequities of high school through illuminating acts of subterfuge.
Yet with graduation looming ahead, Chris longs for more from life. He dreams of attending a top university and wooing Mariah Rivera, the beautiful Latina editor of the school paper. Standing in his way are the expectations of his fellow Pranksters, Mariah’s all-world boyfriend, Chris’s old-world father (who can’t understand his son’s ambitions), and the nefarious school Dean.
Guided by the homespun wisdom of his charmingly eccentric Uncle Nick, Chris embarks on a challenging path of self-discovery, fraught with laughter as well as peril. In the end, he faces the most difficult decision of his young life: continue being a Prankster, sell out, or do something far more daring – step up and be himself. The Prankster is a great story with even greater life lessons.
