Modern folk music comes in many forms: the swathing melodies and electronic beats of Adaline; the story songs and dynamic stage presence of Adrian Glynn; the thoughtful lyrics and pop hooks of Nat Jay; the heart-wrenching ballads and uplifting roots rock of Cory Woodward. All unique in sound and all connected through the sensibilities of folk music, each brings a different element to the stage to create The Prettiest Face In Town. Nat Jay
With songs placed on MTV’s The City, ABC’s Men In Trees, CBC’s Heartland and more to come, Nat Jay’s fan base is growing exponentially with every day. In the last year, she has found herself a showcasing artist at NXNE, a featured songwriter at the Vancouver Folk Festival, and a headlining artist at the 2009 JunoFest. Since releasing her debut EP, Lights Across the Sky, to a sold out room at Vancouver’s Media Club in September, she has been compared with powerful performers like Joni Mitchell, Alanis Morisette, and the Dixie Chicks. Nat Jay's compelling and highly accomplished vocal delivery will certainly turn heads in a noisy club, but it is her emotive songwriting ability that will steal the hearts of each and every audience member.

Adaline
With a voice that seamlessly captures intimacy and intensity, Adaline’s compelling piano compositions, revealing lyrics, and haunting melodies have been seducing audiences since 2005. Often compared to the likes of Fiona Apple, Cat Power, and Tori Amos, Adaline takes her place among these artists as one who is inspired by the craft of songwriting and the power of performance. Since the April ‘08 release of her debut full-length Famous For Fire, she continues to sell out Vancouver venues and has been embraced by fans on tours across the country, including a showcase at the Western Canadian Music Awards. A stunning symphonic tapestry of electronic, folk, rock, pop and more, Adaline has received rave reviews from critics, all citing her as one of Canada's most exciting new talents.

Adrian Glynn
Accompanied by an acoustic guitar, a lap-slide, a balalaika or the stomp of his own foot, Adrian Glynn is a dramatic and accomplished singer/songwriter whose compositions range from murky tales of murder to confessions of love and lust. He sings with a rare honesty and passion, captured by producer Dave Genn (54-40 guitarist/songwriter) on his debut eponymous EP, earning him placements on the Canadian TV drama, “The Guard.” Glynn recently returned from nine months in India, where he performed and interviewed on national TV and radio, and taught music to youths in a Bombay slum. In 2008, Adrian Glynn warmed the stage for the likes of Barney Bentall and Canadian Idol Finalist Carly Rae Jepsen, and impressed the industry with his showcase at the Western Canadian Music Awards.

Cory Woodward
Since Cory Woodward arrived on the Vancouver music scene three years ago, the Edmonton born singer/songwriter has been swiftly gaining attention and praise. With the release of Princess of the Skies under his belt, Woodward took the electric-acoustic fusion of his impressive debut EP on tour dates in Europe, the U.S. and across Canada. Like John Lennon or Jeff Tweedy before him, he can paint a bitter picture of life, but always leaves audiences with a message of hope. Woodward lures listeners with a soothing, Springsteen-like rasp and then blows them away with the unbridled, soulful bellow of Joe Cocker. Whether whispering the sweet melody of a sensitive ballad or entertaining the crowd with charmingly comedic banter, Cory Woodward ensures there is never a dull moment in his performance.
