The Procrastinistas are an original San Francisco based band with a jazz
infused new-wave pop rock sound.
The band boasts four separate, distinctive songwriters keeping the sound
varied and interesting.
John Levitt's jazz background can be heard on his bright compositions
such as "In the Night" and "I Met a Girl" while Jay's new wave-ish
tastes are evident on "French Chick" & "It's True". Keyboardist Rolf's
classic rock sound is displayed on "Weary" and "High & Dry" and finally
the thought inducing compositions "How to Survive" and "Sometimes at
Night" from drummer Russell David round out a balanced and diverse
collection of tunes that keep fans attention from the beginning to end
of a set.
The band, formed in 2005 in a basement in San Francisco's Visitacion
Valley neighborhood, contrasts John's classic Gibson ES-335 sound with
lead guitarist Steve's modern effects driven Fender Stratocaster. Rolf
adds the classic Hammond organ sound and Jay & Russell keep the rhythm
tight and focused. On top of everything is Cassandra's beautiful gospel
trained soprano.
