Cris Ratkovic (aka DJ BKR) got his start in the music business in 1998 by creating the band GODSPEAK. After a year he started his own label (BKR Productions, Inc.) to help his cause along. In the year 2000, the San Jose Sharks hired Cris to compose their 10th anniversary theme to be heard in "The Tank" before every game! 9 albums later, he got together with Shay Smith (aka Salsaman) to form THE PROJEX!
Shay Smith (aka Salsaman) got his start making music with the group Phallic back in 1997 with his friend Scott West. After an initial album, Shay went solo with the band and put out one full lenth album. He felt that he needed a little extra production on his sound, so he approached DJ BKR to produce and remix (re-imagine) his album "The Battle". The mix of their two styles seemed to gel nicely so they decided to join forces and form the group THE PROJEX.
