The story of The Prozacs dates back to September of 2001. Jay, then of The WMASS band The GrandPrixx had rounded up Matt & Kevin of local favs Honkey Dorey and Dave ( RIP 2005 ) from local act The Accidents. The goal was to write some fun tunes with no real agenda other than a change of pace from current projects. By the spring of 2002, the band changed members, began to take things seriously and The Prozacs were really taking shape.
Well, fast forward to 2008...10 releases later....several tours and shows...and a history of members a mile long and we are brought to the newest era of The Prozacs! After 3 1/2 years served behind the skins and 2 1/2 years off and on with bass duties...Matty Prozac and Sean Chin-nuts have moved on and The Prozacs have assembled a new army to fight the world of punk rock.
Forging on as a 3 piece punk band...based in Springfield MA, J Prozac has recruited the talents of Jimmy Craig on Drums and Adam T on bass. Jimmy brings with him 14 years of service in the WMASS based punk band Fuzbuni and a solid heart and back beat that will bring the band to the next Level. Adam, also a WMASS native was last seen sharing the stage with J as the bassist of The GrandPrixx...and is now back in action....rock, roll and all the passion in hand!
Wearing their influences proudly on their arms, the band retains the passion and heart of playing a brand of music that has been shuffled under the carpet by mainstream and popular styles. The Prozacs will continue to move forward, making new fans and friends...while helping to support the local music scene as well as the national pop/punk scene.
With 2 full length albums and several ep's and comp release under thier belts...the band has been hard at work on a 3rd full-length album slated for a fall 2008 release. Be ready...The Prozacs are coming!
