susan's Interests
General
Music, movies, books, taking photos, cooking, my cats, being with my friends, sitting in the woods around a fire, going on vacation, going to see my favorite bands.
Music
As I said above, I love, love, love Porcupine Tree, Blackfield, Steven Wilson, Opeth, Riverside, The Pineapple Thief, Spirit, The Beatles, Ozric Tentacles, Anathama, The Beach Boys, Spool, Dogon, Brian Eno, Harold Budd, Daniel Lanois, Steve Roach, Vidna Obmana, Robert Rich,Slow Dancing Society, Manual, Urich Schnauss, The Balustrade Ensemble, Francois Bayle, John Appelton, Benjamin Britten,Van Der Graff Generator, and so many more.
Movies
Harold and Maude, 2001, A Clockwork Orange, Mirror Mask, The Saint, Yellow Submarine, Early James Bond films, Forbidden Planet, Godzilla movies, Lord of the Rings trilogy, the Harry Potter movies, basically I love to watch movies.
Television
I do enjoy a good TV show, this summer I found reruns of The L Word and Big Love, now I am sad they are over. I love Weeds, Flipping Out, the Bravo reality shows. I watch lots of stuff, I am always trying to learn something new, so having cable is cool. Often the shows I like the best are cancelled to soon, like Wonder Falls or Firefly or Huff, or now Studio 60. Soon the fall season starts and I will watch Lost and Hero's and a few others.
Books
All the H.P. Lovecraft stories, Mystery by Knut Hamson, Electric Koolaide Acid Test, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, early Steven King stories, all the books by Daniel Silva. I enjoy good mysteries, intrigue, espionage and touches of the supernatural.
Heroes
I don't have heros, but I do respect many of the people I have met, especially in the music world, like Brian Eno, Peter Hammill and Steven Wilson
About me: After 27 years on the radio at WWUH, 91.3 FM, www.wwuh.org, I am best described as someone whose life revolves around the love of music. Being able to be on the radio and program and play music every week is a wonderful thing. My entire life has been rooted in my love of music. I have studied it, played it, interviewed a number of amazing musicians, and basically cultivated a wide ranging knowledge. What do I like best??? Well, they don't call me "the psychedelic one" for nothing. Rock, psychedelic, progressive, metal, ambient, dream rock, trance....all enjoyable. But I will always be happiest listening to rock music. Now my favorites are Porcupine Tree, Opeth, Riverside, the Pineapple Thief, Katatonia, O.S.I., Amathama, Ozric Tentacles, Blackfield and on, and on.
Who I'd like to meet: I'd like to continue to get to know the guys from Porcupine Tree, I'd like to meet up with Opeth again. I'd like to get to know more of the musicians I love and play on my radio show and those outside of the "Ambient" music I play.
Dear Susan, Thanks for being friends. Hope everything is going well with you. There's a new competition running at my site, you can win 2 DVD's of Blackfield live in NYC. Blackfield is the collaboration of Steve Wilson (Porcupine Tree) and Aviv Geffen. Their two cd's have a deep intence melancholic touch, wrapped in a gorgeous melodic surreal arrangements. But i gues you already knew this....
