Denver, 2006. After sitting back and listening to the Denver music scene for what felt like a long time, Jared Steinberg and Todd Merendino decided it was finally time to make their mark. The two have been playing music together for themselves only, the last several years. In doing so, they have arrived at a point where the songs played are done so purely for the love of the music itself, having spent plenty of time figuring out how to make the most of a limited lineup.
PushBack is a duo that sounds like a duo and, every now and then, a trio. The group is Jared Steinberg and Todd Merendino, and at times, they employ a drum machine to expand their sound. Though the three get along swimmingly, Todd occasionally ribs the drum machine for lacking a personality.
Todd hails from Utah and Italy, depending on who he’s trying to impress. In addition to playing music for the band, Todd is also the band’s sound engineer. Sound quality/fidelity is paramount in PushBack’s identity. It should also be noted that Todd likes trees.
Jared is a Denver native and visual artist who has been involved in various music projects, namely a band from the 90’s called The Vermicious Knids. Jared does not believe tootsie rolls nor oreos truly fall under the “chocolate” family.
