An exciting duo has emerged from Portland, OR and as the name suggests they represent only “Tru Quality”. The pair consists of Saint (21 years) and Wingate (20 years), who both excel in the form of lyricism. With a prosperous year ahead, there’s no limit for the potential of Tru Quality.
The two music lovers formed in an attempt to bring diversity, and creativity to the forefront of the music world. Saint has an old-school vibe to his music, and has a style that has an 80’s soul influence. Favorite producers include the likes of J Dilla and 9th Wonder amongst others. Wingate, on the other hand mentions Little Brother and Slum Village as groups who paved the way for his musical career. Combined, the mixture of variety produces a unique sound to Tru Quality, which makes them instantly recognisable.
Over the past two years, asides from perfecting their individual skills, Tru Quality have worked with a number of artists and released an official mixtape. Choze and SPV featured on the very popular “Weekend Lovers” which is arguably the duo’s flagship single. “Quinten” has been a regular guest appearance for Tru Quality, appearing on two tracks on the mixtape. The mixtape itself is titled “Collect N’ Cool” and is available for free from various blogs and official Tru Quality pages.
With the fourth quarter of 2009 approaching, Tru Quality announced news of a new project [currently untitled], along with a string of promotional songs and campaigns. With brand new material already stored in the Tru Quality vaults, Saint and Wingate are set to offer something special to fans of the underground Hip-Hop world.
