When a man loves a women they make music. In this case, there were two hippies; Mrs. Strickland [who had Steven and Michael (the carter bros.)] and Mrs. Fisher [who had Matt]. The Carter Brothers met Matt in Jacksonville, Florida- that's when great things would start to happen.
Steven and Michael, at a young age, went to a concert played by their cousin's band. After watching the show they realized how music was a constant growth in there life seeing that everyone in their family has a great passion and involvement in music. After realizing this, the Carter bros. knew they wanted to start a band. So they started a band with their neighborhood friend/music lover Matt who also had a great passion for music.
The kids started a band with no singer, a bassist with no bass and a drummer with no drumset. They called the band Slow Children At Play, or, SCAP. Then the search for instruments began with working for money to buy and learn the instruments. When they got a little older, they noticed their plan to start a band wasn't getting anywhere without a singer, and Steven wanted to have a singer (instead of him singing and drumming at the same time), So the search of a singer began.
Before all hope was lost T.J. appeared like almost it was God who wanted him as the singer. His great gifts had to been passed from his father since his father plays in a bluegrass band. Noticing his skills in music, the band recruited TJ. So SCAP came to Murray Hill United Methodist Church and played a show with a band called Lucky 7 and BAM! There was an Ice Age of no music for a period of... who knows?? Then the three original SCAP members got together with the singer of Lucky 7. They had made a dream team known as Better Off Baggin', or BOB for short which gave us a lesson on a different style of music.
But maybe it wasn't suppose to be because the singer from Lucky 7 ditched us out of the blue after getting first place at a Emergenza festival. So the original SCAP members joined back with TJ and started recording music. Just like that, they combined together their hearts and ideas so easily. In a way, this was a dream that they always had but this was the signal saying it's time to carry out that dream. Now they needed a better name to fit them since this act was so revolutionary to them. While Matt and Michael were sitting thinking of ideas while playing Dreamcast and Steven playing Counter Strike, Steven jumped up and said THE RADIO SHAG!
Although everyone had to move to other things(like Steven pursuing his amazing acting career) there was still something with the name The Radio Shag. Michael new the fire that was there and couldn't put it out. He eventually found his church friend/shag lover since the beginning Nic Chason (a very talented and dedicated person who shares the same passion in music and our Lord). Later, Michael was introduce to Graham, which then the desire for the music grew immediately and then they decided to pursue that fire. That same week, Michael found Maquis Dee(brother of Stevie D who runs a folk band known as Stevie D and The No Shows) who is an amazing drummer that decided to play with The Shag. Once they were together, something amazing happened. The music that was played was completely different than anything that anyone has ever heard. You can ask them, "What type of music do you guys play?" but they wouldn't know how to reply except something like, "This music that we play is from our hearts and created in our own style".
The passion of the band grew as time went by and songs like "Silence The Radio", "My Night is a Riot", and "Today" were made. The goals of the band are now set and ready to accomplish. This is a dream that has not died but has been pushed forward while playing shows that included opening up for members of Red Jumpsuit Apparatus and Lynard Skynard(whats left of it). After playing some great shows, they saw that Nic Chason (who is a student at Stanton High School) plays so many instruments very well that they needed an extra pair of hands so Nic can play more instruments. That's when DK (formal member of the ska band The Saskatones) was found. DK is a brass guy which they needed in order for Nic to play more instruments. Obviously, numbers don't matter much to them because it's all about the music. Everyone in the band is completely serious about what they do and they want their music to be everywhere which includes doing all kinds of shows and street performances. A long journey here, but ready for the longest one ahead of them. The Radio Shag now can be described as something full of passion, dreams, gifts, motivation, originality, and unbreakable members of a group wanting a better movement in society.
Here you have it- not a side project, it's THE RADIO SHAG

I really suck at getting back to people. Ha. Not many people went to the show, so it wasn't a big deal.
But this Thursday, we're playing at Doozers, a rad underground club on the Northside for our CD Release show. If you guys could play it, or at least come that'd be cool. If you want to play it, try messaging Doozers (they're on our top friends).
