Please read this as it might save you some time and money.
Please do not email us MP3's or any other large email. It just fucks us off and means we'll probably delete your email out of spite.
We listen to absolutely everything you send us. I promise. However we cannot reply to everyone. We get 30 Jiffy bags with CD's in a day and 50 emails from bands wanting shows. Please feel free to chase us up by emailing promoters@liveattherailway.co.uk and we will endevour to get back to you as soon as possible.
To save some time you might like to know that the Railway only promotes original bands and bands that people would want to come and see. If you're neither of these things then save yourself some time and try some other venues.
We're not worried about the quality of your recording as long as it gives us an idea of what you're like. We would like to know a bit about you, where you're from ect, so chuck a small bio in the envelope or email.
Please don't phone Its best if you drop us an email
If you recieve an email saying we're unable to put you on please dont give us any shit for it. We've only got a few slots available and sadly we need to make sure they go to the bands that the most people want to come and see. Its harsh but true and good luck with everything and dont let that stop you from sending it again in a few months.
The Railway has no music policy. Anything you want to send feel free and we'll give it a listen.

Over the last 14 years, the Railway has been Winchester’s leading, and well only, music venue. Originally a stable so farmers could, I assume, bring their cattle, and once rumored to be a Brothel, the venue at the rear of the building is now the hub for music in Winchester and its surrounding areas. The Railer has a brand new PA system that delivers only a quality of sound you would expect from a great music venue. With the sound being just right, the venue being underground and a perfect size to enjoy the bands, a well earned national respect has been forged by the 120 capacity venue.
Not just content with being the best music venue in our nation’s former capital, the Railway also has 2 additional bars and a heated smoking garden to satisfy all of your pub needs.
Both bars are complete with Pinball, the latest quiz games, table football and a video jukebox that is stacked with the best new music and the finest cheese/80’s video’s we could find. A great selection of real ales and good quality beers, plus a wide offering of spirits and drink promotions can be found all year round.
Good ol’ fashioned food is served every day Mon-Fri 12-2 and 6-8.
Situated right next to the train station that feeds a catchment area as far as London, Southampton, Portsmouth and beyond, and just a few minutes walk from the beauty that is Winchester City Centre.
Amongst others, the following have all played our stage...
