The Rape Ape was founded in the early part of 2006. The name of the band,The Rape, is a political statement referring to the fact that our government is raping us on a daily basis. The Rape Ape's answer to that is to have fun, get over ourselves, not take ourselves to seriously, drink and use substances', have as much fun as humanly possible because none of us have a long time here on earth.
About our live show: Extremely high energy, beer is often thrown from the stage, girl's often expose themselves, we drink massive amounts of alcohol while performing, all three of us rap our lyrics live over our original music, we sometimes play X box 360 on stage, we do the hammer the smurf the mashed potato, the wave, the robot to name a few dances done while performing live.
Brief individual bios: Category 7 & With a Name Like Smuckas are brother's. They started playing music professionally with their dad's blues band, both at an early age in their teens. Both have performed live all over the country in a host of original bands in different capacities. Both are avid song writer's and play multiple instruments.
MC Rizladia is the youngest member of the group, even though still he has already accomplished learning the French language. He has studied abroad in Canada and Europe. HE is a song writer and plays multiple instruments as well.
In addition, the three members of The Rape Ape also perform as Opium Nose. Opium Nose was started by us[The Rape Ape]in San Francisco in 2007. It is a direct attack on the "emo" music genre, which could a better genre.
In closing, as of 01/2008 The Rape Ape has made GREAT progress, both musically and in the music industry. We have great things on the horizon for late 2008 & 2009 and beyond. In addition to our first CD "The Mix Tape" & our EP "Drugs are Awesome", we have our second CD on the way titled "The Apes of Wrath". We are currently searching for a producer for that CD and we hope to release it by X-Mas 2008(Producer or not).
