The Rasanu Quartet was formed during the spring of 2004. Four unique musicians from different parts of the country have come together to create some of the most interesting music heard on the Chicago scene. With influences ranging from John Coltrane's more free and modal period, to Radiohead, The Rasanu Quartet is very difficult to pin down into one specific idiom. The band relies on original compositions, and a few choice standards, marked by extended improvisations, that have the ability to transcend and provoke a spiritual high. Though the Quartet formed in Chicago each member came to the band from different landscapes and incorporates their varied experiences into Rasanu's sound.
So far the band has played throughout the midwest, primarily in Chicago and also including Milwaukee, Kansas City and Cincinatti. They are planning an album release and national tour for this spring.
