Two by two wild horses, can’t hold back the child
Caught in a whirlpool, of changing rules, at her fathers side
Ride on down the meadow, ahead the angels fly
But how the world it changes, when the snow falls
And the angel hides, the child inside
When you believe, no-one sees
The things you dare to see
Summer blue, hopeless fool
It all will come to you
The world is spinning crazy, right before our eyes
Caught in a fever, bold armies march forward
You come when you’re most needed, first and last of your kind
So bring on the pipers, work your magic
Let worlds collide, no more the child
When you believe, no-one sees
The things you dare to see
Summer blue, hopeless fool
It all will come to you
You hold a 4-leaf clover, yet you feel your life is over
The lights are all swirling, and the dancers are whirling
And you stand before the open door of the Great Hall
looking in, looking in..
Tonight I feel you near me, laughing with me now
They say, I have your eyes
The nights are so long now..so long now

SHE FILLS UP LIKE A SPONGE
They say that the test of a good song is one that still stands up if you can play it on a solo guitar or piano. Well, this is one of the few songs of mine that I saw on a small canvas. Most of the others, I am not happy until I have the Shabbey Road equivilant of the LSO! This one, however is quite happy to be played on a single instrument.. The Guitar..with a little help from some drums..bass..Beach Boys harmonies...
This chorus of this song consists of a collection of Woody Allen style one-liners. Quite surprisingly, it's not funny..
there's too much on her plate, but she won't keep you waiting
and she hasn't got the money, but she always pays the bill
she wants to go to China, she knows she never get there
and I'm all that she's got, and the last thing she needs
and she falls like Niagra
like a feather in the breeze
she says don't let me down please
like a hotel lobby porter
she's always stood up
and that's when she breaks
like a little girls toy
she makes it too easy, to be taken for granted
and she always wears a bracelet, and her heart on her sleeve
she knows when to be silent, and that's most of the time
and she knows how it feels, to be washed away in the flood
she fills up like a sponge
and she falls like Niagra
like a feather in the breeze
she says don't let me down please
like a hotel lobby porter
she's always stood up
and that's when she breaks x3
like a little girls toy

NOBODY EVER LOVED ME THAT MUCH
I wrote this song after watching the film 'Casablanca', and loving Humphrey Bogarts lines so much. This is obviously a song about denial, which both Humphrey and myself were suffering from at the time! See how many quotes (partial or otherwise) you can find from the film. This is from my album
'Coming Up From Down Under'. 1999 Grownup-records. If you get it right I will send you a copy!
..he wore a white tuxedo
and he ran a bar, and his name was Rick
and he never drank with the customers
but he always seemed to drink too much
..well Sam played, and Rick made sure
that no woman ever stayed too long
and he never seemed to say too much
but he always knew just what to say
where do you come from?
I'm a bum and a drunkard
do you despise me?
maybe I would if I thought about it but..
Nobody ever loved me that much
no she never made me feel that good
I bet she told you she got through to me
..nobody ever could
Nobody took my breath awayv
No I never trembled at her touchv
..so don't bother asking, Nobody ever loved me that much
Once he had a lover
but she never really meant that much
anyway.. that's what he tells himself
that's how he forgets, as time goes by
where were you last night?
it's so long ago I can't rememberv
will I see you tonight?
I never plan that far ahead 'cause
Nobody ever loved me that much
no she never made me feel that good
I bet she told you she got through to me
..nobody ever could
Nobody took my breath away
No I never trembled at her touch
..so don't bother asking, Nobody ever loved me that much
Any heart in the world you could find
and you had to walk into mine
so how will it end up this time
I go to bed dreaming, and I wake up screaming.. Nobody!
I didn't count the days, I didn't count the nights
Not once did I wish I was holding you
I didn't wait up, I didn't pace the floor
When you begged me to stay I just walked out the door
You ask me would I, give up my life
Give up my freedom just to be with you
Well I have to say, I have to come clean
It didn't even cross my mind, and here's the reason why
Nobody ever loved me that much, no
I bet she told you she got through to me
..isn't that just like her
Nobody took my breath away
No I never trembled at her touch
..so don't bother asking
Nobody ever...
Nobody ever...
No nobody ever..
Nobody ever loved me that much
