I couldn't find your clip from Letterman on youtube to send in- I even tried putting the date in.  Thanks for putting it up!
See?  I told you that you look healthy and youthful.  Maybe Dave was jealous and had to razz you about it.  He looks... older. lol

Anyway, you looked and sounded great.  It's nice to see you making appearances, as we are all in withdrawal since Real Time has gone on hiatus. Hope you're enjoying the break.
I can't wait for the show to come back on.

Well Bill Darling,

Welcome to Eugene, Oregon's second largest city.  Eugene is known for its mix of arts and culture, education, scenic attractions, and passion for recreation.  You are one of the few East Coast boys I know who can actually pronounce Oregon correctly, "Ory-gun" and not "Ore-y-gone."

Eugene has two nicknames, Tracktown or Emerald City and its official slogan is the "World's Greatest City of the Arts and Outdoors."  The area is one of the most "Bike-Friendly" cities in America and offers miles of paths throughout city streets, parks, gardens, wetlands and of course along the banks of the beautiful Williamette River.  (Pronounced Will-am-ette)  Not to mention the other quite wonderful "greenery."

Have a wild and wonderful time and I look forward to seeing you do the "voo-doo you do so well"-stand up.  See you there!  xo, Rebecca

So the healthcare bill squeaked by in the House by just 5 votes, and now the Senate may piss that all away.  I watched some of the coverage on C-SPAN Saturday, including the entertaining-yet-pathetic bit when the Republican from Arizona held a baby in his arms and pretended to speak for her against affordable healthcare.  As long as the baby's taking time out of her busy day to stop by Congress, let's get her opinion on troop levels in Afghanistan as well.  ???  It's nice to know the Republicans are on the same wavelength as a 9 month-old.

Anyway, expect more talk in the Senate about taxes and takeovers while more people who are uninsured or underinsured continue to die.

Together we can change the world by attacking global warming, which will create the demand for millions of jobs nationwide, and it pays for itself. Obama says we have to do it smarter, then why is he not implementing the plan?

Technology and Solar Power will propel us into the future. Engage!

Hiya Bill,

Gosh, it's almost over - my brief visit to the US. Just like your hiatus from Real Time, EVERYTHING has happened on my visit - the Republican gain of the statehouse in Virginia, the Fort Hood Massacre (with both the perpetrator and a victim coming from my state) and last night, the execution of John Allen Muhammed, again, in Virginia.

You know, I oppose the death sentence, and I know you don't; but I do think you might have been a bit appalled at the blatant 'death watch' the local NBC affiliate established hour by hour last night. I know I was. It was morbid.

On a good note, however, I saw NBC's Brian Williams interview Jon Bon Jove (another Jersey boy) regarding Bon Jovi's (or even Bongiovi's) sponsorship of a housing project for homeless, unemployed and underprivileged people trying to begin again in life. This is all at his expense and is happening in Newark. People are allowed to stay in the complex for free whilst they look for work, received treatment for addictions and AIDS-related illnesses. As Bongiovi said, this isn't political. It's about 'we the people' working together for each other, because human compassion is something that should be nurtured and developed. I liked that. It reminded me of Brad Pitt's interview on your show. I'm travelling back on Sunday. Hopefully, the pilot won't be drowsy or drunk. You keep well, Bill. Take care.

You are the only guy that seems to be telling the truth.
America is a great country that is living on its past.
We are the only country that doesn't provide health care
as a right among the industrialized nations and we seem to
be proud of it.
Everyone seems to  overtaking us in education and a foreign
country will get the patent on stem cell therapy for curing diseases.
It seems like both parties are so deep in the pockets of the corporations
that they can't pass legislation any more.
Best on your Friday date in Oregon.

Bill...Is it true that you are the only comedian that performs live
on Friday the 13th? I saw that on a bulletin by ModelsActresses.
I googled it and I still don't know. Please be easy on the Democrats.
We need all the help we can get. If I hear you made fun of Democrats
I might have to bar you from the internet. Just kidding. Nobody
can tell you what to do say. Just mention  my son, Andrew, for Governor.

Bill,
Your show in NYC on 11/08 was brilliant! A friend of mine who could not go and I are going to see you at Ulster Performing Arts Center in January. If it is like the New York show it will be right up there with the two last shows I saw there: Lewis Black and George Carlin. Not bad company. Keep fighting the good fight and making us laugh at the same time!

An alliance or coalition between Government and religion cannot be too
carefully guarded against......Every new and successful example
therefore of a PERFECT SEPARATION between ecclesiastical and civil
matters is of importance........religion and government will exist in
greater purity, without (rather) than with the aid of government. [James Madison in a letter to Livingston, 1822, from Leonard W. Levy- The Establishment Clause, Religion and the First Amendment,pg 124]

Hi Bill,

The battle for affordable health care, as you know, still far from over. Still needs to pass the senate and I’m sure the republicans are desperate and planning a filibuster to block reform. The bill has some good requirements that will protect Americans from insurance companies denying coverage for pre-existing conditions, the expansion of Medicaid and so on. Women’s rights still a huge issue, and if gets through the Senate it ill be a blow to women’s freedom and privacy. I believe if anything has the potential to prevent reform in the Senate is abortion. My other concern is that I don’t see enough strong regulations in place to control insurance companies from raising their premiums. That’s dangerous. The only way we’ll be able to control profits is by creating a universal health care system or robust public option. So perhaps we can robust things up with with the help of Viagra.

Now Mac,  Aren't you being just a tad too sensitive?  I answered your response to my post with the same format that you used, so you wouldn't be confused.  I am not insulted in the least and neither should you be.  I am fully prepared for your answers and welcome the debate.

Now, I completely appreciate the time you put in actually looking at some of former President Reagan's apparent apprehension over repealing The Fairness Doctrine in 1987.  While I'm sure there was some concern over the revocation, more importantly, Judges Bork and Scalia of the US Court of Appeals made a landmark ruling that the new teletext transmissions would not be exempt from the Fairness Doctrine.  That was the rub and the new media, conservative talk show radio and other outlets wanted it to disappear and it did.

As far as President Obama and his FCC chief, Mark Lloyd are concerned, they are against reimposing The Fairness Doctrine and have came out publicly with statements to that effect.  As far as Obama's concern over the balance and fairness of The Fox "News" Network, there are many memos and other evidence that he is correct.  That's just a little different situation than conservative talk radio or TV and should be investigated.  In fact, Fox should welcome the investigation if they have nothing to hide.
