Sounds Like
King Tubby meets Massive Attack
The sound spans several generations of musical styles ranging from early Ska of the late 60s to 80s ska. The dub foundation developed by King Tubby to the modern sound of Zion Train & Jah Shaka. Heavy roots of Burning Spear and classic dancehall of the mid-80s. Rocksteady to Drum&Bass - the sound is a fusion of all styles, never staying in one place long but never leaving one sound for too long - always returning to best the last.

"Dubmatix, one man with a relentlessly inventive approach to reverb, rhythm, and reggae - the Primary colors on any dub producers palette. On "Renegade Rocker" he works with vocal legends such as Linval Thompson, Alton Ellis and Sugar Minott to create an album of deep authentic, glass-rattling dub platters"
NOW Magazine Toronto Critics Pick & (4 Stars)
"This time Dubmatix lays down another tight, well-produced collection with guest appearances by Alton Ellis, Sugar Minott and Ranking Joe."

Dubmatix – Renegade Rocker (Reviewed 2008-11-07)
Killer roots rock reggae/dub from Toronto, loaded with top guest vocalists. This is the kind of new reggae release that warms the old substernal cockles! We get lots of fine reissues and retrospectives, and a decent amount of good new dancehall and dubstep, but a new roots release of this quality is damn rare. Play it loud! Sadie O. - KZSU FM Radio
"Canadian producer, Dubmatix, creates some of the freshest reggae around. What's so fabulous about the outing by Dubmatix out of Canada is he's taken dub & reggae and pushed the envelope in a creavtive sense and taken it to another level...it's like a brand new break through" Dermot Hussey XM Radio "The Joint"
Toronto's Dubmatix do it right on Renegade Rocker, a full-throttle set of upbeat, positive reggae with tight riddims, inspired dub effects, sweet horns and guests galore. Ranking Joe (with two excellent contributions, "Tornado" and "Give Thanks and Praises"), Linval Thompson ("Peace and Love"), Michael Rose ("Easy Down"), Pinchers ("Rock And A Hard Place"), Alton Ellis (on the superb "Blessing Of Compassion"), Sugar Minott, Willi Williams, Wayne Smith and more pack these hardcore roots riddims with energy and powerful performances and the dubs make it clear the disc would sound great ever if there were no guests. An excellent set from beginning to end. Chuck Foster - The BEAT Magazine (Vol. 27 No. 3 2008 Oct/Nov)ABOUT US
One of Canada's premiere dub, reggae & electro artists having spent months on top of the Canadian & International charts, touring domestically & internationally, collaborating with legendary reggae heavy weights (Sugar Minott, Michael Rose, Alton Ellis and more) and a sought after producer/remixer working with artists across the globe (Scotland, Italy, Portugal, Switzerland, France, Germany, Canada).
DUBMATIX / BACKGROUND
Having imprinted his name in the mind of the reggae fans across Canada & Europe with one of his first-ever releases back in 2004, the Toronto-born producer is now firmly established as one of Canada's premiere reggae/dub artists and with two chart-topping releases behind and the new "Renegade Rocker" just coming out, the future looks brighter than ever.
Music runs deep within the veins as does the various musical styles Dubmatix drops - from pure, old-school King Tubby dub to the freshest electro/steppers dub to classic conscious roots to Drum'n'Bass and more. Growing up Dubmatix was surrounded by instruments and recording equipment which provided hours of experimentation and recording from an early age. Having learned drums, bass, guitar and piano as a youth helped push the boundaries of musical taste and production later in life. Over the past years he's been in various reggae & acid jazz groups jumping from drums to bass and back in 2002/2003 firmly planted the seeds of what became the first Dubmatix release "Champion Sound Clash" which garnered rave reviews across the globe and landed a European licensing deal. Since then "Atomic Subsonic" was dropped in 2006 and "Renegade Rocker" in 2008 with various remixes, production and digital releases in between. Working with local artists such as Treson, Kulcha Ites, Raffa & Howie Smart to legendary heavy weights Sugar Minott, Michael Rose, Alton Ellis, Wayne Smith and more - Dubmatix brings a vibe that is hard to lock down but always provides solid grounding in bass-heavy grooves.
