We are holding a Bear Event Saturday Sept. 12, 2009 with Kendall www.kendallshead.com and local artist from our group Chris Shirk at the Stonewall - Mooselounge in Allentown PA . The show is from 7 to 9 PM and tickets are $10.00 ea or 3 for $25.00. After the show Kendall and Chris will be upstairs in the Mooselounge selling cd's and meeting people. The Stonewall - Mooselounge will have a menu available for anyone that wants to grab a bite to eat. Vegan Voodoo Occultist	Jul 2 2009 3:35 PM I have received official notification from the Florida legislature that the low cost spay/neuter bill will be refiled for March 2010. How it works-What it does is provide funding for low cost/free spay/neutering for people who voluntarily bring in their pets to be spay/neutered-for every animal cruelty or animal ordinance violation there shall be a surcharge to fund low cost/free spay/neutering programs making this option available to ALL Floridians. I guarantee if you offer dirt cheap, even free spay/neutering people will bring in their pets by the truck load which means LESS strays and LESS homeless animals and LESS animals to kill in pounds. The bill was never rejected by the Florida legislature in 2009, but the only thing they passed was a budget. This spay/neuter bill was co-sponsored by the entire Agriculture committee so there is a very good chance of it passing next term :-) This is all very exciting news. I am working on a few other animal bills, but this spay/neuter bill is top priority. I called vets and found out they charge about $250 to $300 per SPAY per cat. No wonder there are too many homeless animals around. This is utterly ridiculous!!!

The opposition (breeders, puppy mills) is calling every day several times a day. Phone calls are worth 1,000 e-mails! If this passes in California, other states will follow!!! CALL CALL CALL!!! Leave a message at night when you get free calling on your cell phone. Then, call during the day and speak to an aide. This is it!!! Let's stop the killing!!!

Raising dogs was banned under the rule of late Chinese leader Mao Zedong as a bourgeois pastime and was only made legal a few years ago as living standards rose. Animal protection organisations expressed concern over the Hanzhong cull. "The mass removal of dogs can result in the increased movement of dogs of unknown disease status from surrounding areas, thereby actually facilitating disease transmission and increasing the threat to human and animal health," Peter Williams, China director for the World Society for Protection of Animals, was quoted as saying. China's first law to recognise "animal welfare" and include domestic animals is in the draft stage. "Once it gets passed, the abuses of animals, such as the Hanzhong dog killings, is expected to stop," Chang Jiwen, a professor who led the drafting team, was quoted as saying. I am begging you to sign a petition (only takes a few seconds of your time) which will be sent to the Chinese authorities to STOP THIS DOG CULL-it makes their government look very bad, and it is traumatic to countless Chinese who love dogs-including seeing eye dogs. It is inhumane, cruel, senseless. Can you imagine how bad it would be if someone from the government forced their way in your home and STOLE your dog and clubbed it to death in front of you? That's what the Chinese are facing right now Please sign our petition addressed to Chinese president Hu Jintao calling for an end to this senseless massacre and assurance that such cruelty will never be allowed to happen again.
