The Kersal Massive exploded onto Youtube on March 27th 2006 after someone uploaded a video we sent off to win a BMX onto the site. To some, we were labeled "chavs" our video presented a look at Britain's "social underclass" through the comfort of your home PC. You could laugh at us, though not knowing why. The truth is you were frightened.
"Laughter is a defense mechanism, it happens when we are reminded of our own mortality. When a man slips and falls on a banana skin, we laugh because we realise that all of us are helpless, an evolutionary defense mechanism that occurs because without it we would all become paranoid about our own demise." Little Kev's eloquent take on the public's reaction to our video. The fact that so many people were scared to laughter whilst in the comfort of their own homes only proves the power of the Kersal Massive's ability, coupled with the stark, background in which the video takes place.
They call me Ginger Joe, reluctant "star" of the now legendary Kersal video. I put up this site to show off the extent of my newfound skills in music production which I have been honing for some time. Little Kev is still in school, getting good grades in English in particular, and still dreams of they day he is a rap megastar. C - Mac has been in and out of schools and mostly keeps himself busy supplying certain things for people in need of a decent smoke.
Documentary film maker Kevin Powder recently met up with us, the video of which can be seen here
