MTL Records Searches for a Truly Live Sound
MTL Records (Music That Lives), CEO, Todd DiMartino has already started making moves in the music industry by signing rap sensation, Bay Area rap artist Sterlen Roberts earlier this year, offering the rapper the chance of a lifetime with a record deal. CEO, Todd DiMartino is on a mission. A mission to bring music back to life.
“Starbucks is now selling records as with it’s frappacinos,” stated MTL CEO, Todd DiMartino. With online surfing for new sounds and the declining sales of CDs, music pros have to be ready with a “think-outside-the-box” approach to launching new music today.”
Many people told Todd he was crazy for starting an independent music label in today’s transitioning industry. But with his background in construction, DiMartino was used to building foundations under difficult situations. He started creating MTL as any good contractor would do – by finding his crew. Snatching up Dina Lapolt was no easy task. He called her a dozen times before she finally realized he wasn’t going away without a face-to-face meeting.
“Todd DiMartino is a very ambitious entrepreneur,” said Dina LaPolt, famed music attorney, "I’ve been in this business a long time and I warned him of the risks- especially in today’s music industry but he wouldn’t be disillusioned from his goal to be a hot, new, successful independent record label. I love his persistence and passion."
MTL Records is located in San Francisco, CA and is currently searching for new artists of all genres to add to their roster. MTL’s A&R, Brandon Lamela has been busy scouting new talent for the indie label, listening to demos sent in from all over the world, hoping to find their next big recording artist.
“The Internet has made it exponentially easier to expand an artist’s fan base,” said DiMartino. “I can’t rely on traditional music marketing concepts – I have to reach the worldwide online communities and then engage their ears. If they like what they hear, they will visit Ticketmaster and purchase the opportunity to see our artists live.
“Music That Lives” certainly sums up what the entertainment industry is constantly searching for in a new artist. MTL Records is on a mission to sign, produce and launch those artists who will breathe new life into music and offer fans a truly live experience.
