About me:

Dear Colleagues, Friends, Family and Fans:

Many of you may, or may not, know of my most recent return to reality television. Oops, I did it again! VH1 called and I ended up on Season 2 of I Love Money. “I Love Money 2" gave 17 new, wild and crazy, All-Star cast members from the "of Love" series, the chance to battle it out for a quarter of a million dollars.

Well, I didn’t win the $250,000. But now I am embarking on a much greater and meaningful challenge. I have been nominated as a candidate for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Man & Woman of the Year campaign. I’m part of a team of 21 Northern VA/DC men and women who have joined efforts to work tirelessly to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and the world’s mission to find a cure for blood cancers.

I am very excited about this honor and truly feel this is my opportunity to make a difference in the lives of people affected by leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. I accepted the nomination because I feel that it’s better to give than to receive. But just weeks after accepting the nomination I lost my grandmother during her battle against cancer. So this effort has truly become close to my heart. My fundraising team consists of others who have lost a loved to this illness. Since my involvement with the LLS, I’ve been contacted by many friends, family, and coworkers who have a story to tell, and I’ve realize just how many of us have been directly affected in some way by blood cancers as well as other forms of cancer. The degrees that separate us are minuscule.

I will spend 10 weeks between April 1 and June 13 raising money and awareness for and about blood cancers throughout our community. My goal is to raise more than $100,000, and with your help I can reach that goal! The male and female candidate who raises the most money will win the local title and go on to compete for national honors. Money raised benefits LLS's mission to cure blood cancers and to improve the quality of life for patients and their families. This year's fundraising is in honor of two patient heroes, the 2009 Boy and Girl of the Year: Alessandro Valeri (age 8) and Megan Avery (age 5).
