I like the arts, but then, if you approach any endeavor with creativity and passion, it is an art. Right?
Music
Musically, I like a little of everything, a lot of some things. I like songs that are sort of....timeless. Like..the first time you hear it, it's as if it's been there all your life and you never forget it. Specific composers or bands: Bach, Handel, Beethoven, Scott Joplin, George Gershwin, Leonard Bernstein, the Beatles, Seger, Mellencamp, Stevie Wonder, Jimi Hendrix, Joe Walsh, Phil Keaggy, the Eagles, lots of newer stuff, too, but only time will tell if it has staying power.
Movies
I pretty much like every movie I've ever seen, which of course, would be too numerous to mention. After all, some really talented artists had millions of dollars at their disposal to create a work of art that would pull you into the world they were creating for a couple of hours. They all worked on me.
Television
Medium, Ghost Whisperer, Two and A Half Men, HGTV, Psychic Detectives, DIYTV, The X-Files, Smallville
Books
All the Carlos Castaneda books, pretty much anything metaphysical
Heroes
Jesus, Mohandis Gandhi, Martin Luther King, John F Kennedy, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Bill Clinton, Franklin Roosevelt, Mother Theresa, Barack Obama
About me: Hmmm.....Well, for one thing, I'm a bit uncomfortable trying to describe or define myself. I've never really experienced myself outside of the first person. Of course, I, like everyone else in the world, think the things I think, do, and say are pretty awesome, otherwise, I wouldn't think, do, or say them, and I'd think, do, or say other stuff which I would think was awesome, otherwise I'd think, do, or say something different ..........you get my dilemma here, no? I'm a musician, songwriter, self-styled philosopher, and all around nice guy.:)
Who I'd like to meet: Hmmm.....I guess I should only name people who are living, otherwise, I might get what I asked for:O Ok! How 'bout this? Bill Gates comes to me with either Jennifer Love Hewitt, or Jenny Garth, and offers me like 50 million bucks as a wedding present for myself and whichever of the two I choose. The girl at the bank, Paul McCartney, and millions of others. And...oh yea! I'd like to meet Tom, too! Man ...that dude has more friends than like....ANYbody!
Hey Rick, thanks so much for coming down Sunday and supporting our Benefit and helping to celebrate dad's birthday - I think he would have had a blast partying with us!! With your help, we raised $445 for Hospice of the Valley!! Thanks so much for participating in our open stage - you guys rocked, of course!!!
MyHotComments hey rick,,thanks for the rockin good time last night!! you always do such a great job,and i'm always amazed at all of the awsome musicians that come to play with "the great" Rick Hartley!!! THANKS AGAIN
Hey babe!!! I wanted to let you know that I'll be in town this Saturday night! Gonna be hanging at the SOI of course!!! lol I sure hope to see you its been way too long!!!
Rick, thanks for your support at Blue Magoo's. You rocked, buddy, and you had 'em dancin'! I played over two hours and that was plenty for me. I didn't have to use my Zen, either - I hate doing the recorded-music-break-thing at a gig anyway. I really appreciate the relief and the great music ... Steve
Thanks for the add. We appreciate it. Got a question for you. If my band was to play out, say once a month, would you be interested in being an honorary member and play guitar and sing backing vocals for us? I'm not sure we are going to do this, but we might need a hired gun to pull it off. Let me know what you think, and I'll keep you posted as to our plans.
