2. The House At Sugar Beach by Helene Cooper
3. No Disrespect. By Sista Soulja
4. A Pecuilar Paradise: The History of Blacks in Oregon
5. In Search of Black America by David Dent
6. Anything by Dr. Cornell West
7. Anything by Dr. Michael Eric Dyson
8. If They Come In The Morning by Angela Davis
9. Assata: An Autobiography by Assata Shakur
10. The Jesus Quest: The Third Search for the Jew of Nazarethby Ben Witherington III
11. By Any Means Neccessary: Speeches and Writings of Malcolm X
12. Seize The Time: The Story of The Black Panther Party by Bobby Seale
13. A Lonley Rage: The Autobiography of Bobby Seale

Heroes
My parents: they been together since high school and moved into their first place in a shopping basket (literally). They have come from nothing to something by hard work and faith and a principle that at the end of the day, its not the money that matters at all. Huey P Newton and Bobby Seale for the boldness of their vision, Angela Davis for proving that sistas can ride for the cause too, Maya Angelou for constantly giving a voice to the black sturggle and the HUMAN struggle. Phyllis Wheatley for being the first black woman ever to publish a poem, the founders of Liberia for taking that journey back home to Africa back in the 1800's. Nelson Mandela, a rebel with a cause. Malcolm X because he lived, he learned and he fought. Nat Turner. O.G One, Blacque Butterfly, Mic Crenshaw. Toni Hill, Mo. Yes, those people are my friends but they really are my heros because they dare to live life fully and on their own terms. So many others .... but above the em all, Jesus (Yashua).

Synopsis: A passionate and candid collection of verse, What Else Did You Think I Would Say?, brings forth some of Rochell D. “Ro Deezy” Hart’s most influential scripts concerning politics, oppression, resistance, love, and struggle. With titles such as “Assata (She who struggles),” “Breath Is Hard to Come by Sometime,” “Justified Paranoia,” “Latina Lullaby,” “Some of Us Are Born Powerful,” “I Find God in Strange Places,” and a myriad of others, this collection stands alone as a contemporary and courageous voice in a world where passive silence is becoming a distressing trend. What Else Did You Think I Would Say? concludes with an encapsulation of Hart’s distinctive style as she speaks ingenuously and often comically about her perspective on matters ranging from cultural nationalism to self-defense. What Else Did You Think I Would Say? will satisfy long-standing Ro Deezy enthusiasts while effortlessly earning the respect and appreciation of new readers.

I am the author of six published books including one that was considered for the Oregon Book Award- The highest literary award available in the state. In a review of my first book, an Oregonian staff hailed me as “a female cross between Langston Hughes and 2 PAC.” Spoken Vizions Magazine (St. Louis) referred to me as “the Queen from the West” and Cris Day of the Willamette Week Newspaper said, "... she stands out as an original and intelligent voice struggling free from a crowd of one-dimensional stereotypes." In 1999, I was the first black woman chosen from Oregon to represent the state at the 10th Annual National Poetry Slam (Chicago, IL). Shortly before her death, I received an award from Rosa Parks, which was “in honor of a commitment to activism”. I’ve shared the stage with and opened shows for Dead Prez, Nikki Giovanni, The Roots and more. Additionally, I’ve had solicited appearances by places ranging from NIKE, The Urban League, The National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, Portland State University, Portland Public School District, Portland Community College, Washington State University, Bennett University (North Carolina), The Spring Valley Domestic Violence Coalition (New York), The National Coalition Against domestic Violence and many more.
