Influences
A strong desire to avoid sounding like either the old wave or the new wave of the late 70's; however, let's say The Kinks, The Velvets and various obscure 60s bands [eg Dave Curtis and The Tremors] did feature in the band's record collections. The Record Players were in the business of writng and playing songs that tried to avoid the usual pop song subject matter of the time; however, a few re-worked versions of songs by other writers did appear in the bands live set, these writers included; Jacques Brel, Leonard Cohen, Ray Davies, Bob Dylan and Richard Thompson. Maybe this could help give you, dear reader, an insight into that strange elusive creature that is the influence.

1980's, slowly faded further into obscurity as guitar bands got obscured by a fog of synthesizer bands with strange dress sense. But the weird world of popular music works in strange ways and interest in the band has recently been revived thanks to Don't go Backwards and 67 being included on a Messthetics compilation and people searching-out copies of the band's 7" vinyl. If only we could revive the two members of the band that have gone to the happy rocking ground in the sky.
After you've finished here, you may like to hear this poem sung on myspace...
Poem 2 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): WALKABOUT WITH MY PEN
Once drove an old sedan, up north, From a place in Sydney to Cairns; Then to Kuranda I went forth, By train, to look without set plans.
I browsed through the trendy market, With fresh fruits of tropical kind; Walked to the creek through lush thicket - Nature’s hand giving peace of mind.
I dined in a scenic cafe; Then, outside, as I wrote for yen, Some passing Kooris called-out: “Hey, You go walkabout with your pen.”
Request or question, I don’t know - Assured voices, elderly men. That’s now several years ago, And I’ve seen the world - with my pen.
Hey, thanks for the kind words. Yep, Myspace has made us all Rip Van Winkles. Now you need to take the next step and put together a compilation. Your tunes are too great not to.
Thsnks for you 'eurovision' comments ,several others have suggested it and have written a song called 'In your Face and up your nose' for it too ,really diabollockle, but its the bizarre ones that win !!!!
