The Recovery is an experimental/rock/pop rock outfit hailing from Salt Lake City, Utah. Comprised of founding members Kris Averett on guitar/piano/backup vocals, and Brian Sherwood on main vocals. Although this band has been around for a number of years, its now in its second forming. Thanks to Alex Lyman on guitar/backup vocals, Matt Perea on drums, and Matt Wilcox on bass. The band feels it has all the pieces in place for a shot at a career in music.
In the short time The band has been reformed, its accomplished quite a bit, toured in surrounding states, recorded a 2 song demo and an 11 song full length due out later this year/early next year, and sold countless pieces of merchandise.
Although The Recovery try to be as original in their sound without compromising their rock sensibility they site many different genre’s and tremendously significant bands as influences. Ranging from Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Eric Clapton and Bob Dylan, to modern acts such as Emery, Lagwagon, Less Than Jake, MXPX, Circa Survive, Pearl Jam, and The Foo Fighters. The Recovery have also managed to share the stage with touring acts such as: The Vandals, Lorene Drive, You Me and Everyone We know, Socratic, So They Say.
With an emotionally charged punk-rock sound, The Recovery is hard at work writing, practicing, and playing shows with a live performance that is talked about all over the Salt Lake Valley. The Recovery is creating their own distinctive sound to separate themselves from other bands in the same genres. With the artful guitar styles and searing lyrics laid over an almost post-hardcore/indie backdrop, they’re not so much finding a niche in the genre, as they are creating their own.
