Formed in the early months of 2005 in Massachusetts by singer/guitarist Shane Hall, The Rectangle Club is a 4 piece rock band that tastefully blends elements of blues, rock, punk and folk into an energetic live performance.
While a Rectangle Club show is typically driven by their repertoire of mature original songs, they have a knack for covering semi-obscure tunes and making them completely their own. Covers include the Dead Kennedys Kill the Poor, Happiness is a Warm Gun by the Beatles, and even Leonard Cohen's Tower of Song gets a treatment.
The original material explores both the negatives and the positives of the human condition, from the rejection of a universal moral definitive on "Enemy" from their upcoming debut album "The Songs of Owen Munee" - to calling into question the nature of typical romance in "Dodo". This is the kind of rock and roll that seeks to get your brain working just as hard as your body, and they refuse to underestimate the intelligence of the audience while they are at it.
