Has DTE Energy's massive green marketing campaign made you one of the 14,000 customers who have signed up for their "GreenCurrents" program? If so, we're sorry to tell you that the premium you are paying on your monthly electricity bill has bought no new renewable energy - not a single environmentally friendly electron is flowing to your house or business from Detroit Edison's power grid because of GreenCurrents. Worse yet, Detroit Edison (DTE) spent over 85% of its "GreenCurrents" program money on marketing and administration, leaving only 15% to purchase renewable energy certificates (which is not the same as actually buying renewable energy) in its first year... ..
