The Reds were formed in early 2005 when Joel and I met in a mexican dive bar in early 2005. We just happened to be sitting by each other and struck up a conversation. After a couple hours of talking about music we realized that we were into a lot of the same music: Matchbox20, Counting Crows, Fountains of Wayne, and a bunch of others. Before leaving Joel went out to his truck and passed me a demo of about 20 of his songs.
About a week later I popped the CD in and to my suprise it was really good. Every songs was great, the words were cool, and Joels voice was like no other. I gave Joel a call and we set up a time to hang out and play a little.
We got along great and decided that it would be worth trying to make a band. Joel called his brother in law Mikey who played drums, and I called my friend Jeremiah who played bass and we all got together. We got along great and were all really into the music. The rest as they say is history.
We created a demo and a website (both of which you can check out at www.thereds.com) and began playing shows. We've now played over 100 shows in the Portland/Vancouver area. We were nominated by 107.5 The Buzz to open for Bon Jovi and have played both dive bars and some very high end venues.
Our music has a very pop rock edge and this makes us accesible to a lot of people. Although we have a sound all our own you'll find a certain familiarity in it that makes the music that much easier to get into!
