theredsunband are about to release their second album, 'The Shiralee', on the 14th of June, 2008. it has taken a very long time, thank you for your patience. the band have a new single, called 'The Eagle'. there is a very big tour planned - dates will be up soon - and yes, we are going to adelaide.
theredsunband recently released a five-track EP on their own label Enchanted Recordings through Shock. The title track is from the forthcoming album 'The Shiralee', due for release in 2008. the other four tracks are recorded at various places with various people over the course of the past three years. these songs are all exclusive to the release.
theredsunband's second album, 'The Shiralee' was produced by dean dirt (magic dirt) and recorded in ten days at hothouse studio in st kilda, melbourne. tim whitten (the clouds, art of fighting, powderfinger, gersey, gaslight radio, the list goes on) mixed the songs.
the second album is completely self-funded thanks to endless touring in 2005 and winning the jessica michalik songwriters grant in early 2006. jessica michalik was the girl who died at the big day out, and the award is given out by the organisers of the event.
theredsunband are a trio based in sydney, australia who play pretty loud, dark, heavy, sad dream-pop. all three people in the band sing to marvelous effect.
theredsunband released their first album ('peapod') in 2004 to good reviews around australia. the album was preceded by three singles, the first was called 'pavement', the second 'sleep forever', and the third (a 7" single) entitled 'devil song'.
theredsunband showed a great love of hitting the highway and toured around australia as often as possible, with other australian acts like love outside andromeda, art of fighting and holly throsby, gersey, the gin club, faker, the vasco era, little birdy and end of fashion, and the panics.
theredsunband were exceedingly lucky to play with a bunch of overseas acts they adored, such as cat power, blonde redhead, grandaddy, the shins and sonic youth.
after the release of their debut album, theredsunband were also invited to play at several australian festivals, such as the big day out, homebake, the come together festival, meredith and cockatoo island.

Jeremiah here, for a brief period i looked after your finances at Harbour, but for a much longer period i have been a big fan.
Sarah, you make up great, memorable lines.
Two of them keep re-appearing in my head, eternally relevant, over and over again, once or twice a week.... "i got no money and i wanna go travelling...." and "pavement keeps hitting my feet"
ahhh.... , five years after i first heard them i still sing these songs. There arent many other bands (aussie or otherwise) that are like this for me.
