   About THE REELS- split up...bye

We've decided to call it a day after 3 long and hard, but enjoyable years. Call it the wrong time. Call it the wrong place. I dunno. Somethings just didn't run for us. Somethings did.

We've had the pleasure of playing with the likes of Athlete, The Courteeners, British Sea Power and the soon to be massive Airborne Toxic Event. We've met some great people along the way. We've also met our fair share of twats along the way as well.

A massive massive thanks to anyone that to came to our shows, listened to our tunes or just gave us the time of day. It was a pleasure.

Also a massive thanks to our ex-members Joe and Dan. Top top blokes.

They're might be some free downloads up soon as a treat. Maybe even that single version of 'Mondayze' that never got released and has officially become one of the biggest jokes the 21st century.

Love & thanks,

Neil, Alex & Jeremy

x

The Reels are an indie-rock band that alternate from Cornwall and London. If The Beatles, Radiohead and The Killers had a fight, it might end up sounding a bit like this. The Reels have been playing all over the place in Cornwall and London, and been getting rave reviews in the process, aswell as getting in the NME.Having already supported The Courteeners and British Sea Power in 2008, watch out, cos The Reels are coming.

Hello THE REELS- split up...bye

Our debut label EP Sad Glad Songs is out next week on Lostmusic Records - launched at our February 12th gig at Gramapahone, London E1 where we're appearing with The Gresham Flyers, Kelman and Hari and Aino. The entire EP is streaming on our Myspace - the first four songs.

Then we're doing a few dates including:
14th Feb - FREE Valentine's gig, The Wight Rock Bar, Ryde, Isle of Wight
21st Feb - Cardigan Arms, Leeds
26th Feb - Grey Horse, Kingston

And Rocker is playing our song Until The Daydream Dies this month on his show on the John Peel inspired internet station, Dandelion Radio.

Exciting!

Ive slipped outta the loop a bit cos Im busy with the book Im writing and also some large project home DIY, which is due to the impending birth of *Volume 2* (as its being called) in March 09...

Still writing for Record Collector Magazine though I miss attending sober the not so local gigs and the endless driving between venues of the old days!

Waht are you lot gonna do then? Reform for a Take That style success filled stadium tour and album, or splinter into a selection of even more successful new bands like the Big In Japan did? (Check history books - Liverpudlian band that spawned, bunnymen, wah, teardrop explodes, lightening seeds and frankie goes to hollywood etc)

Well I personally think the former is a better option, and I still think you boys make a great noise!

Happy 2009 Reels Forever!!

out of all the bands i saw during my cornish giggery spell, the reels were the band i was convinced were the most likely to succeed, no need for gimmicks, no time for glitzy shallow style over substance music, just great riffs, amazing vocals, witty banter & originality in abundance, and if i carry on anymore i shall make myself and everyone who has any taste in music shed a tear!!

big love to you lads, bloody brilliant and a real pity you came to the end of the reel :-( x
