See influences, and quotes at the top of the Bio...
"The sweeping arrangements of The Reflections are endearingly heroic"... Steve Jelbert, The Independent, "high quality" ... Ed Horrox, 4AD Records "A lolloping Spector kinda vibe made by people with probably impeccable record collections" ... Simon Williams, Fierce Panda Records.
These quotes have stuck with this four piece combo as words of encouragement and some personal vindication in their pursuit of trying to create an element of melodrama and romanticism in their songs that may well be at odds with the climate of knowing cynicism that seems to pervade much of today's music. Pop is pop and rock is rock right now and to utter the word pop outside the world of manufactured teen acts, is sometimes seen as a means of confusing issues ... Maybe pop can actually also be something of credibility and lasting value, free of the post-punk notion that unless it has dirt under its fingernails and grease in its hair, it cant possibly be seen as serious music. The Reflections enjoy challenging that notion and would love to believe that a new era of eccentric, romantic and lasting British pop music is just around the corner. With vocals inspired by a decidedly pre-modern and eclectic array of singers such as Gene Pitney, Dion and Scott Walker to name but a few and the song writing and arrangements similarly leaning towards an eclectic bunch of influences from that era and others, from Spector to The Smiths, its easy to see how The Reflections have arrived at their sound. Retro isnt the word for them - it would be nothing more than a by-product of what they do. The Reflections were originally a singer and guitarist song writing partnership that wrote a load of songs and wanted to get out and play them to people. They formed a band together and are doing just that. They were picked to play at 'In The City' in Manchester and have been developing their sound further since. They would love to have the opportunity to make some great pop records ... L.Valance

Hey boys, hope you're all doing well. I'm sorry I couldn't go to Turnmills to see you play :(; I wasn't feeling well and decided not to go. How was it? Haven't been to Turnmills for some time... Was it a good venue for you guys? Do you know when you're playing next?
Hi Guys, if you do make it tomorrow that would be great were on at 1230pm and it's free.Listening to your music and reading about your influences I think you'd enjoy the show. Keep me up to date when your playing as well.

Good stuff! There's a few venues nearby that I'm sure would make you welcome... My favourite of which is The Glee Club (www.glee.co.uk) which prides itself on "discovering" small bands... I'm heading down to London again myself next month (I hope) to see one of my favourite bands, Guster, playing at Water Rats - do you know how big that venue is at all?
Enjoyed the gig last night. As I said before, I was there to see Roman Candle, but stayed for the remainder and enjoyed every minute. I was near the front with my dad (who was quite tipsy by that point), and I'm sorry we couldn't hang around long after, but we had to get going. I took a photo during the set (was low on battery, so only got the one). Hope to hear from you soon!
Hello Reflections!
Really enjoyed your gig at Industry on Monday, great music. It was my first ever DJ set (with DJ Tanner). Thanks for making it so enjoyable, i'll have to do it again! x
Great show last night! Thanks for coming to say hi and for the tunes. Is it okay if I play your stuff at clubs around town? Sadly, I'm temporarily leaving the country on 12th Dec. (great timing, there, Sluggers), but I'll make sure that I see you again.
Hey, I'm going to be DJing your gig at Industry on 20th Nov. Come and say hi! I'll be (pending my not being a lazy bastard) the one with the custom-made T-shirt and the attitude.
