"What can I say about The Reflections other than they are probably the finest compliment The Shadows have ever had." Jet Harris, The Shadows’s legendary bass player and owner of the first electrical bass guitar in the UK.
When four young and extremely nervous boys from the Stavanger city area made their entrance at Norway's first ever Shadows festival on June 7, 1997, not many (least of all the boys themselves) could have foerseen the great success that was to come. The festival, held at the famous Ekeberg restaurant in Oslo, was not only besieged with avid Shadows fans and various veteran Norwegian Shadows bands, but was also attended by specially invited Shadows Legend Bruce Welch. Despite a few problems with the sound system during their performance, Bruce was sufficiently impressed that he selected The Reflections to play with him later that night.
Until that time, the band had never experienced a greater moment in their then relatively short career. The culmination of several years of hard work, that memorable occasion provided more than enough inspiration for them tocontinue playing with great dedication, and quite a few offers to participate in further European and American Shadow festivals have since come their way. Places they have visited includes Canada, England, France, Germany, Holland, Sweden and Wales.
The band, originally formed as the Shades in 1989, went through a few line-up changes until it ended up with its current incarnation in 2000. The Reflections have consisted of Svein Arild Tjemsland, brothers Kjetil and Arild Brekken and Ole Reidar Gudmestad ever since.
Confirming their talents, they have been joined several times by their heroes. Shadows legends; Bruce Welch, Jet Harris, Brian 'Licorice' Locking and Alan Jones. In Birmingham in 1999 The Reflections drummer, Kjetil, was asked by Hank Marvin to play the drums when Hank made a special performance at his guitar clinic, performing on stage together with Jet Harris for the first time in 37 years.
The Reflections have recorded two CDs, 'Reflections of The Shadows' in 1999 and 'Looking Back' in 2001. In 2002, The Dutch label Rarity Records released a compilation CD; 'Bringing on back the good times'.
