The Rejects formed 1997 in a college canteen in Essex, founder members J and Doozer decide to create a band that would change music history... Intitial attempts at songs prove to be a hybrid of piss poor punk and grunge.
What was worse is that they had a gig booked in 4 months and they had neither the songs or a drummer. Luckily their friend Glen agreed to help them out with the drumming but the songs weren't there. They were going to have to blag it.
After the gig Glen told us he couldn't drum for us anymore (this might of been because he didn't want to play "If you're happy and you know it" in a Blues stylee). Anyways, The Rejects then hired the drumming talents of Will (who at the time was in No Absolutes) and a day later recorded the "Terry the Sexgod EP". Steve "Beard Nob" Redley said "the Rejects have taken the piss" when we used the only reel to reel tape the college had on the whole EP.
After 3 gigs with the band Will decided to consentrate on No Absolutes and left. Once again drummerless Doozers brother discovered the Guv, a young lad of 14 who wasn't disgusted by anal sex jokes, J's impending love of B*Witched's musical ability and the creation of Twat Rock.
Ah yes Twat Rock, like a fine drink it blends ingredients that shouldn't be mixed and leaves you with a warm glow... er... anyway it's a cross between punk/ska/jazz/waltz/hardcore and anything else they can get their hands on.
So with the Guv on board The Rejects were happy chappies for about 2 years and knocked out the albums "Mother Schabooboo" and "More Hardcore than Channel 5". But like most things puberty kicked in and the Guv decided to listen to garage and play the drums too slow for punk. So he got replaced by long time friend Carlos.
Then things picked up, somehow blagging several UK tours together and entertaining the crowds around the country with talk about anything that could cause offence, The Rejects decided to bring in Nickie on Saxaphone and then later Mike Cisco on trumpet. continued to blag some more!!! Ireland was indeed fun.
After nearly 9 years for partying, geeking off and shouting and scaring kids the rejects split up. Last show was at chinnery's in southend old dayer 18th Dec 2005.
thanks to ever one who put us on, let us crash on their floor, brought our cd, gave us booze and danced like a loony in awe of some fools from Southend
