About me:

Now in rehearsal to open August 7 - Jason Robert Brown's THE LAST FIVE YEARS

The Relevant Stage is a bold, new company in residence at the beautifully restored Warner Grand Theatre in the charming, downtown San Pedro arts district located amid wonderful art galleries, a variety of "A" rated eateries, and uncluttered area parking.

Productions are conveniently scheduled to allow plenty of time for brunch or an early bird meal before or after our 2:30 PM matinées, and dinner and coffee before and after our 8:00 PM evening curtains, conveniently located steps away from the theatre, in the Port Town of Los Angeles.

The Relevant Stage produces works that are great, stimulating stories which have contemporary relevance to social issues. Entertainment is just the beginning. The Relevant Stage will challenge hearts and engage minds.

ABOUT the WARNER GRAND Theatre

Located at 478 WEST 6th St in San Pedro, CA 90731, The Warner Grand Theatre is a lavish, art-deco theater opened to the public on January 20, 1931 during the magical decades for films in the 1920s and 1930s. Jack Warner called it "The Castle of Your Dreams."

Designed by architect B. Marcus Priteca and interior designer A.T. Heinsbergen. Mr. Priteca designed three lavish art-deco palaces which were located in San Pedro, Beverly Hills, and Huntington Park. Priteca later designed Hollywood's famous Pantages Theater. The Warner Grand is the last of the three original theaters left intact.

Who I'd like to meet:

Coming August 7 - 23, 2009 JASON ROBERT BROWN'S: THE LAST FIVE YEARS

Learn more: www.therelevantstage.com

The Last Five Years is a fresh and contemporary musical from Tony-Award winning composer Jason Robert Brown. The Last Five Years presents a young couple's romance in a new and exciting way. The Last Five Years opened at Off-Broadway's Minetta Lane Theatre on March 3rd, 2002. The production had its final performance on May 5th.

Jason Robert Browns storyline moves in opposite directions at the same time. Ray Buffer and Marla McClure essay the roles of Jamie Wellerstein and Cathy Hyatt, a couple who meet, fall in love, get married, and then divorce, all in a short period of five years. However, Jamie's story progresses in a forward order from the time of the couple's first meeting to their painful breakup, while Cathy's memories are presented backward, moving from the end of their relationship to its first hopeful moments. Funny and uplifting, the show captures some of the most heartbreaking and universally felt moments of modern romance.

The Relevant Stage Theatre Company at Warner Grand Theater will present The Last Five Years for three weekends in August, 2009 - 8/7 – 8/9; 8/14 – 8/16; and 8/21 - 8/23, 2009 on Fridays and Saturdays at 8PM, and Sundays at 2:30 PM. Performances will be at Warner Grand Theatre, 478 W. 6th Street, San Pedro, CA 90731. WGT is a facility of the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs.

Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for Senior Citizens & Adult Students and $5 for 18 & under. Wine Lover’s packages are $25 and include the show plus a sampling of up to 6 wines prior to the performance across the street from the theatre at Off the Vine. Dinner Theatre package is available at 6th Street Bistro and Whale & Ale British Restaurant for $39.99 and includes a two-course dinner with beverages - before the show.

Advance tickets may be purchased at www.therelevantstage.com. Press inquiries may be made to pr@therelevantstage.com or (310) 929-8129.

"The Question" New Indie Rock Ballet Benefit for THE DANCE FUND by JT Horenstein & Flicker House Productions is a theatre piece entirely danced to a progressive, independent rock score. This gripping story is based upon the author’s experiences while sitting on a Jury for a first degree murder trial; certain questions came to mind: “What really happened on the night leading up to the murder? In “The Question”, an ensemble of 26 relives this dramatic tale, masterfully revealing all evidence for the truth to finally be known: bodies and music being the only devices on which to rely. The decision is made. The stage is bare. Light falls dim. The future is now the past. It all began with one little question. Performers dance to the Music of artists Inara George, Jamie Cullum, Yoav, Sean Hayes, Sigor Ros, The Faint, Feist, Deathcab for Cutie, and Korn featuring Amy Lee. NOT TO BE MISSED!!! www.dancethequestion.com
