Sam Kearney has been writing songs since he was really young. After moving to Brooklyn he physically ran into Angela Webster shortly after they both started living/working out of the Loiter Recording Studio. This meeting was the beginning of a long, arduous and beautiful relationship. They went their separate ways for a time, Sam with Fischerspooner and Alberta Cross and Angela with Rhett Miller and the Believers.
After a lot of touring and recording, they have both ended up back in Brooklyn where they decided to start a band, THE RELIEF SOCIETY. With the addition of the brothers Foote--Jay and Alex (whose musical credits include: Sufjan Stevens and The Welcome Wagon, and Matt Bauer)--the band was complete.
