About me:

Dear friends of The Remedy:

Unfortunately, at this time we are forced to suspend this weekly event until further notice, due to the consistently anemic level of patronage.

The Remedy is conceived as a different, unique type of event for the Portland area: a Variety Open-Mike/Open-Stage Entertainment Get-together. A place where amateurs can showcase virtually any type of talent. A place where professionals can try out new materials, hone their skills, or simply get a little extra exposure. A place where everyone in the audience has the opportunity to take the stage and share just about anything: a personal story, a poem, a thought, a joke, etc. A place where anyone can come and just hang out with their friends...with amusements at every table to keep you occupied, audience games and contests to participate in, entertaining music and videos to enjoy, and raffles all show long to win silly prizes from a grab bag.

Yes, The Remedy was designed around YOU, to both enjoy and/or participate in... without YOU, there is no show! While many of you have expressed excitement about this kind of event format, the sad truth is that YOU are simply not showing up in the numbers needed to make this a viable event.

Well, Portland, do you really want to let a great event like this suffer an untimely demise? At this point in time, only a significant outpouring of support will enable The Remedy to continue. So if you are interested in supporting or patronizing this show, please let us know. If the response is great enough, The Remedy might yet live on.

Also, please tell us your thoughts, comments, ideas, and suggestions on what it will take to make The Remedy an integral part of your entertainment diet. Send us a message, post (or reply to) a comment, reply to our blog(s), or e-mail your host at: RickWho@Mail.com

Thank you for your continued interest and input,

- your host, “Rick Who?!

1). Everybody who'd like to spend a brief stint in the spotlight, including (but not limited to):
Acrobats, Actors, Clowns, Comedians, Dancers, Impressionists, Jugglers, Lip-syncers, Magicians, Mimes, Musicians, Poets, Singers, Story Tellers, Ventriloquists, and other performers & entertainers.

Yes, Wayne, there "will or won't" be a show this week, mostly "Won't".   "Will"? . . . not so much.

Still not enough interest or support.

Thank you everyone who came out to the show Wednesday, and a special thanks to our three musician contributors: Kevin Wayne, Rob Johnston, and Jim Strange of The Proud and the Damned.

    Great show guys!

See everybody next week for another dose of The Remedy.

And remember, the stage is open for any type of talent you might have, not just musicians and comedians. We're still looking for some dancers, magicians, jugglers, and sketch comedy, among others.

Come out and play with us!

    WOW!

Thanks to everyone who came out to The Remedy this Wednesday, including all the performers, making this our biggest and best show so far! We really weren't expecting this after the light turnout of our first few shows. If this keeps up, we'll be moving from the 2nd floor lounge to the spacious 3rd floor ballroom.

I apologize to the latecomers who signed-up but didn't get to perform...we simply ran out of time. I had spaced out the participants with our other videos and games, and I just didn't expect the late influx. I think for the future I'll start accepting reservations ahead of time in addition to sign-ups during the show...just message me at The Remedy's MySpace page or email me at RickWho @ Mail .com.

Once again, thank-you to everyone for helping to make the show a success, as we grow into a true variety open-mike / open-stage get-together.

It looks like The Remedy is becoming THE place to be on Wednesday nights...thanks to YOU!

    - "Rick Who?!"

Hi, I'm Rick! People seem to have a hard time remembering my last name. I am the humble host of the new weekly Wednesday night event at the Fez Ballroom, "The Remedy". This is a fun open-mike/open-stage get-together for everyone to share their music, comedy, dance, lip-syncing, poetry, storytelling, jokes, skits, impressions, magic...just about any talent you might have! Bring your old diary and read some amusing entries, or share your "worst/best/strangest" experience: dream, hangover, adventure, break-up, etc. We rely on audience participation for most of the entertainment, but if you're not feeling up to taking the stage, feel free to just hang out and enjoy the fun friendly casual atmosphere.
There will also be drawings for our "Incredibly Frivolous" PRIZES! Games and contests will ensue, resulting again in more "Incredibly Frivolous" PRIZES! So come and drop in on the show anytime between 9pm and 1am, turn in a participation request if you so desire (letting us know what you want to do and what time slots you're available), treat yourself to some libations and snacks, grab a board game or a puzzle book, take a break from "The Real World" and let your hair down for a while! NO Cover Charge (as in free, Free, FREE!) Hope to meet you soon! (21 and over)
