Among my favorite tracks are "grateful grapefruit" and "morning dew"... I like vocals and lyrics that have meaning. Which is why I also like Billie Holliday, Sara Vaughan, Ella, and many, many others. When you sing it's from the heart. I'm not a musician and cannot technically deconstruct a song to verbalize why I like it, so it's all about the feeling...

About Theresa Perez

Born to parents from the Dominican Republic and growing up in the US, Theresa's influences range from Merengue to 60's Rock to Motown. She began playing the piano at 8 years old, and almost immediately began to compose. Her father was a fan of latin percussionists and Carlos Santana, and so she became highly influenced by playing congas and timbales and listening to Santana's music. At age 11, she began playing the guitar. She quickly took to the new instrument and began composing songs with lyrics, a new creative form. The only problem was that she wasn't much of a singer. In fact, she was terribly shy to even try it. But, that did not sway her from continuing to write songs and sing under her breath when no one was listening. She eventually took voice lessons and gained the courage to perform her songs in front of others.

When she was 16, she played in a couple of different bands in Shepherdstown, WV. She performed her compositions regularly with artists such as Kelly Cornelius and John Henry Dale in the neighborhood bar - Ed's. The local people supported her immensely and encouraged her to pursue music.

When she was 18, Theresa was accepted to the Berklee College of Music. She studied Contemporary Writing and Production as a piano student for 3 1/2 years. It was here that she met Omar Ledezma, Esperanza Spalding and many other talented musicians. It was also at Berklee that Theresa discovered her love for Brazilian music - through a Brazilian percussion class. Since her first trip to Brazil in 2008, Theresa has been dedicated to learning Portuguese and Brazilian music of different genres.

Theresa is continuing to expand her composition and song-writing skills, and looks forward to performances abroad in the coming year. She is currently working on a self-produced album, which should be released in Spring 2010. She writes the music and lyrics for all of her songs.

Éste será el último post hasta la edición del mismo. He estado hablando con varias editoriales, valorando vararias posibilidades de edición libre y he tomado una decisión: la publicación será con Bubock . Debido a una serie de cuestiones personales ( la puta pasta, jejeje, tengo tres hijas ) no tengo clara la fecha de la publicación, espero que sea lo antes posible . Estos últimos cuatro meses han sido muy creativos para mi, he imaginado y escrito aproximadamente una treintena de cuentos , el último de ellos "El caminante". Algunos cuentos bastante más largos, con lo cual le estoy dando otra dimensión a mi obra . Pido disculpas a todos los amigos de éstas páginas, puesto que mi tiempo se ha ido más en la creatividad y debido a la crisis he tenido que emplear más tiempo en mi negocio para que siga funcionando y realmente he pasado muy poco por aquí . Un abrazo a todos exceptuando a los que hayan cenado ajo, por la olor y eso, jejeje. Sin más dilación aquí os dejo el cuento y espero que el libro se publique, porque sino, jamás sabreis quién es El Gran Cultivador. EL SECRETO No recuerdo exactamente cuanto tiempo llevo aquí , pero debe de rondar los 700 años. 700 años bajo tierra, con la piel quemada, desnuda y mojada, y por descontado muerta. Año 1300 dC. La comitiva inquisitorial se acerca al pueblo de Massanet de la Selva, desde Hostalric. El viaje es secreto. Se ha de evitar a toda costa que ”la niña” hable con nadie. El párroco de la iglesia ha hecho llegar a manos del obispo una carta en la cual relata que días atrás llegó al pueblo la mencionada niña, asegurando ser un custodio de la gran verdad. La niña hablaba del “Gran Cultivador”. el finl de este cuento lo puedes leer en mi perfil...¿te apetece saber como acaba?
