Influences
"I would like to be known not for the heights I have reached, but for the depths from which I have risen"--Connie Francis----------
My very early music absorption was fed by my brothers who played air guitar to their favorites; The Beatles--White Album and Abby Road, Steppenwolf, Led Zepplin, The Guess Who, Doobie Brothers, Moody Blues. Years later, I latched onto The Eagles, Elton John, Barbra Streisand, Billy Joel, Crosby Still and Nash, Linda Rondstat, Barry Manilow, Neil Young, America, Seals and Croft, Chicago. Okay--pretty much all of the 70’s classic rock artists!
But also, George Benson, Earth, Wind and Fire, Stevie Wonder... and I admittedly, became fanatical about 70s disco. The 80’s? Ummm, let’s skip to the 90s. I went through my metal phase then--loved the Seattle sound; Queensryche, Sound Garden, Alice in Chains. And also became a devout Sting and Annie Lennox fan, up to this very minute. What turns me on now? Going back to my mother’s country music influence, and my talented fellow indie/singer/songwriters. There’s so many of us out here!
BTW, kuddos to the bucco talent I hear coming from England. I love the 12 Bar Club!
Sounds Like
Been told that I liken to some pretty tall orders--Linda Ronstadt, Dusty Springfield, Annie Lenox, Faith Hill, Bonnie Raitt, Sheryl Crow, Laura Nero. My favorite--DOLLY PARTON!?!

Check out this glowing review of my CD "Alive Again" by music critic/reviewer Mark Fogarty. Please give it a read and let me know what you think. Thank you so much Mark for my best Christmas present ever!
Theresa Sareo is a singer with a powerful story to tell; a
story of survival, inspiration, and proof of the saving power in following your
dreams. After suffering the loss of her entire right leg in a near-fatal car accident
in 2002, she courageously reclaimed her life as a successful recording artist
and award-winning songwriter, writing and performing music with rock legends,
book authors, renowned painters and soap actors including Blood, Sweat and
Tears, Dr. M. Scott Peck and Kelly Ripa. Her music has spanned the U.S., Europe,
Asia and South America. She has appeared on many radio and television shows
including Larry King Live and Law and Order, and was featured in New York Magazine. Politically, she was a featured speaker at an International press conference with Senators Hillary Clinton and Charles Schumer in support of federal funding to Medicaid/Medicare and the public healthcare system. She has also become a tireless advocate for the trauma survivor community, especially among wounded soldiers at Walter Reed Army Hospital, as both a counselor and performer.
Theresa has released three original CDs; Theresa Sareo, Embrace and most
recently, Alive Again, which features musical giants including Steely Dan
guitarist, Jon Herington, (heard here on Alive Again,) Saturday Night Live
drummer, Shawn Pelton (heard here on Take Me Down,) and bluegrass/gospel group,
Ollabelle (heard here on Take Me Down.)
Inspired by her visits to Walter Reed, her new single "Through A Soldier’s Eyes" is making it’s way across America as the heartfelt anthem honoring wounded soldiers and their families who make the ultimate sacrifices for our country. It is also performed at benefits for the Fisher House Organization and at military conventions across the country.
Theresa can be found around the Tri-State area performing her original
pop/rock/country material with some of New York’s most stellar musicians
including Jersey Boys lead guitarist, Steve Gibb (heard here on Even As You Walk
Away.) She also features close friends she has worked with for years including
drummer Ethan Hartshorn, bass player, Jim Nordstrom,
singer/songwriter/guitarist, Gregg Swann, singer/songwriter/pianist, Tracy
Stark, and background vocalist and graphic artist for her passed two CDs, Mary
Horenkamp.
Aside from her original music, Theresa also sings with a great jazz trio which includes Blood, Sweat and Tears keyboardist Eric Cortright (heard here on "It Don’t Matter To Me") and performs pop and Italian art songs at New York’s most popular venues including the Bubble Lounge and the legendary Raos Restaurant. Proud of her Italian/American heritage, she credits a life-changing trip to Italy toward her ultimate devotion to her music career. In the spirit of her musical influences, she is also a private voice teacher.
Theresa has become a popular public speaker, driven to spread her music and
messages of survival throughout the business, medical and educational
communities, including Bellevue Hospital’s departments of Trauma,
Anesthesiology, Psychiatry, Social Work and Rehab medicine, School of Visual
Arts, New School University, ESL schools (English as a Second Language) and
public events for the Mayor’s Office of NY, to name a few.
As quoted in the New York Post this summer, her Alive Again CD is especially
rewarding because it is about the connection to the spirit of
survival--reflecting on everything from her personal recovery, to broken
relationships, to dealing with 911 from a New Yorker’s perspective--all in a way
that’s honest, moving and relatable. Theresa would like to thank producer Ted
Cruz and engineer Jason LaFarge for their talented input toward this record. For

Singer/Songwriter Theresa Sareo keynote speaker at International Press
Conference with Senators Hillary Clinton and Charles Schumer at Bellevue
Hospital in NYC, Monday, February 5, 2007
I was honored to be a part of this very important International Press Conference with NY Senators Clinton and Schumer,
advocating against tax cuts to Medicaid/Medicare and funding to public hospitals.
representing Bellevue, the largest public hospital in NYC, where I was saved
and rehabilitated, and other issues. It was a dream-come-true to be able to
speak from my heart on issues that have meant a great deal to me.
Hey, Theresa! Just checking in, as usual-- making sure you're doing well. Recently, I've been working harder than I want to, so now I'm in dire need of a vacation! How about you?!
A few days ago I added a new uptempto country song we've written called 'Honky Tonk Romeo'. If you haven't heard it already, I hope you can stop by and have a listen. If you know a country recording artist that is looking for new songs, please let them know about my myspace page. We are shopping all of the songs on this myspace page 'Country Songs For You'. Raine
Hey Theresa :] How are you doing these days? I am doing wonderful! I only have about 5 days left of high school ever and its a bit weird. I realized that my graduation is the same day as your nephews but its in the afternoon, I dont know when his is. And my grad. party is July 25th. It would be wonderful to see you either way or some other time. I am hoping to come to NYC before I leave for college at the end of August. So if I don't catch you inbetween now and then maybe I will in the city. Take care! Love you Aubreyanna
Remembrance !!! Have a safe memorial day weekend!!
I went to visit your names today, engraved upon the Wall. You're there for all the world to see and know you gave your all. You're over 58,000 strong and you served your country well. Then came that day you met your fate as one by one you fell. You didn't want to fall that way, so young and in a war so rotten. I pray each day when I think of you that your names won't be forgotton. I want you to know that as I write Americans have taken a stand. We want to know "What was your fate?" The truth is all we demand. If you're still alive, I pray "Dear God, please comfort these dear men. "Release them from their torture and pain and bring them home again."
Thanks for adding me! I am a songwriter and the songs on my page are songs that I have written or co-written that I/we are shopping to country singers who are looking for fresh songs for their next CD. I recently put up a new track called ‘Country Kisses’. So if you, or someone you know may be interested in recording any of the songs on my page, please contact me to discuss!
Reading through your myspace has made me realize I am so honored to call you my cousin :] How have you been? It's been awhile, I hope all is well. Only 33 days till I graduate! I'll have to let you know when my grad party is and maybe you can come up? That would be so awsome :] Hope to hear from you soon. <33 Aubreyanna
It's great hearing from you. I know you're really busy, so it is always a treat and an honor when you're able to pause and say "Hi!". Things are well for me, just busy as usual. I'm looking for another opportunity to get out to see you perform and to grab a few of those stellar hugs of yours! :-)
