My main interest is my family tree. it takes up most of my time when I get my head stuck into it. Luckily, being half Scottish the records are much easier to access and we have managed to get back to 1647. The english side of the family is a bit more long winded and tedious. I do it for 2 or 3 months and then have to have a complete break as it is very intense when I'm in the zone. I also love to grow from seed to plant up hanging baskets for the summer. I use the conservatory over the winter to grow them. My lovely husband invested in some automatic watering systems for me 4 years ago after we went on holiday and the plants weren't watered and all died. I was a bit annoyed as somebody did have the job of doing it. We have no need to worry now, I just go out once a week and feed them and a couple of times to dead head and check etc, but most of the time we just admire them.
Music
I like most current music. Obviously having a daughter that loves to dance, we listen to everything on the music channels. I'm not really into rock, punk, hard core, rap or rave types of music.
Movies
My most favourite film is The Goonies, followed by Footloose. I love The Sound of Music and Mary Poppins, and most comedys and typical girlie films. I am not really into pointless violence like Die Hard and Rambo type stuff.
Television
I have to watch Neighbours everyday. I have watched it from the start. We also watch all 3 versions of CSI, Jericho, NCIS, Veronica Mars etc
Books
I am not really a big book reader.
Heroes
I have many heroes in my life. Of course there are my 3 brothers, who have all overcome difficult periods in their life but have all come out the other end. My biggest hero is my husband. We may have had a difficult start, but despite everything we went through, we have seen through it and stuck together.
About me: I am a married mother of 2. I work as the Office Manager for a charity bringing business and education together in the form of mock interviews, enterpise challenges, preparation for work experience and placements for teachers. I love the work I do, I feel it adds value to the community and especially young people. My husband is a very knowledgable IT professional, currently working for BT, but looking as most people do. My son in about to go to secondary school and I have never been so nervous about him doing something yet. He is lucky in that he got the school he chose for himself, so hopefully that is half the battle won. He is looking forward to starting a new ohase in his life. Our daughter is a born singer and dancer. She attends ballet classes, along with modern. Everybody tells us she is beautiful, but of course we are biased. We always have music on in the house, and she just dances all the time.
Who I'd like to meet:
There are not many people I would like to meet. If I had to choose, I would say Stephen Fry as I love him in QI. Apart from that, I would just like to have known past members of my family.
