Sounds Like
Maybe Buddy Holly & The Crickets though some have said we sound a bit like early Cliff Richard records. We think that's meant as a compliment! We try to create an authentic sound to go with the era of music we play.
We are The RetroBeats - a 1950's style rock n roll band based in Cheshire and gigging anywhere between the Preston and Stoke areas. Formed in 2007, originally as a four piece, we play rockin' numbers by Elvis, Eddie Cochran, Buddy Holly, Gene Vincent and Johnny Burnette as well as gentler songs by artistes such as Don Gibson, Del Shannon and early Cliff Richard, amongst others. A lot of people, especially the younger generations, think that popular music started in the early sixties with the Beatles and it would be a shame to let the wealth of great songs from the mid fifties onwards be forgotten. We play the well known hits and the not so well known numbers. We have been through a few line-up changes, notably drummers, but the current trio looks pretty stable now and features original members Paul (guitar/vocals) and Richard (bass) with Brian on drums.
