Influences
Too many to think of...here are a few that immediately spring to mind...John Martyn, Explosions in the Sky, the Cure, Fionn Regan, Mogwai, Kings of Leon, the Twilight Sad, television, De Rosa, the Pogues, Cat Empire, flying machines, Don DeLilo, At the Drive-In, Jeff Buckley, ghosts, tapes, Iron & Wine, Wee Gill, Frightened Rabbit, Youthmovies, Swedish dance music, Donnie Darko, Glasgow, the Beach Boys, the Waterboys, TS Eliot, all wound in bale and wire, Idlewild, Why?, satellites, Inverary, and the Monterrey birches were bare, raising their skinny arms to the stars in surrender, Philip Roth, everything, this problem's going to last more than the weekend, Edwin Morgan, Broken Social Scene, Kelvingrove Park, things backwards, clocks, Bills Shakespeare and Withers, Tracy Chapman, Elliot Smith, Marshall's beard, Sigur Rós, If...., Bon Iver, Simon Joyner, Rhianna, nothing, the Knife, Brand New, Cats and Cats and Cats, Elliot Smith, The Envy Corps, Sufjan Stevens, and your eyes are slits in bags of fat, Ian McEwan, and your eyes are piss holes in the snow, the Spanish Civil War, Maps by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Frames, radio, I think God is moving its tongue, Christopher Hitchens, Bright Eyes, your fingers are in the coin disposal, Devendra Banhart, Vertigo of Bliss by Biffy Clyro, Blind Willie Johnson, Damien Rice, Kevin MacNeil, someone told me you're still pretty, Agent Mulder's evangelical belief that the truth is in fact out there, This Town Needs Guns, Malcolm Middleton, long division, Barra, does anyone actually bother reading this?, bands who manage to be both brutal and beautiful simultaneously (ie Deftones), I saw the rain dirty valley - you saw Brigadoon, Joy Division (allegedly), Dumbarton Road, Warren G, Radiohead, dead Irish poets, Viscount Stair, getting lost, so bright on cinder grey in spray paint, Agent Scully's cold cynicism, in the car behind the castle, the Glasgow subway when it's empty, we'll lay in bags as dead as leaves, Neutral Milk Hotel, living Irish poets, Vladivar, Ronnie Renton, Murcia, the City Sprinter and the 44A, being on trains, Dob Dob and the Dobotrons, everything we have ever loved or hated or even had a remote stirring about, stuff what happens to us, all and none of the above...
How strange it is to be anything at all.
Sounds Like
"Cuarteto escocés de pop rock introspectivo. Largos instrumentales con una clara influencia de grupos como Mogwai, las atmósferas que crean podríamos enmarcarlas dentro del rock espacial así como los marcados crescendos de sus canciones en una tradición más post-rock." - Alfredo Urdaci

There Will Be Fireworks is four people. Some people think three. But sometimes more than four. But basically four. Two of them aren't twins. Three of them were in the band then got the other one and changed the name. We imagine the Eponymous Economist is distraught. We imagine lots of things. The other one makes us better than we were before. Except his timekeeping. He is a distimeous mess who should frankly sort his life out. Sometimes we do silly things but mostly we talk about doing them. One day we discovered delay and thought it was funny in a good way. We are thusly post-rock to appease our friend and sometime cohort Vinny The Barrier-Jumper and Glockenspielist with the Awesome Reverb Pedal. But we aren't actually, except that we don't know what we are or whatever. Three of us are in the EngLitSoc, one only nominally though. One of us is shoe-rave and wears white hoodies. One of us is obsessed with Jeff Mangum. One of us is obsessed with German nuns. One of us likes to move all the furniture in his house from one room to another as a pastime. And he never answers his phone. We never tell each other anything; but we're working on it. One of us took one for the team once but we don't talk about that unless we are making fun of him. So we talk about it pseudo-regularly. We have two guitars, a bass guitar and a drum set. Once or twice we use violin. We like pia-pia-piano. We like delay and distortion and capos and slides. We like Karen the Trumpeter and Singer and we like the occasional accordian. And organ. And glockenspiel. And reverb when it is said in a funny accent. We hope you do too.
We don't take ourselves seriously. We'd like to, but we can't.
After many moons of faffing about, we have started to get our act together over the last few months and actually feel quite good about the little cleety niche we have eeked out for ourselves.
We are quiet sometimes and loud sometimes. Sometimes in-between.
You should come round one day and listen to the four-track and eat Flake cakes in the dark with us. They taste better in the dark.
Or come to our gigs. We should be having some sooooooooon.
All four of us are the progenitors of Cleet, the sport of kings. It can also be called Cleetball. Either way, it's all so cleety. And I lied. Two of us took one for the team. Adieu.

But don't lie; the stuff on my page is terrible! But as a band who recorded a masterpiece by themselves, you are definitely an inspiration.
I'm kinda tempted to go and stay with my Scottish friend to see you with the Xcerts, although I haven't actually heard any stuff by the Xcerts, so it's probably not the best move.
