The Rewinders começou em 1996, quando três amigos - John Bubble, Dino e Maluket – integralmente influenciados pelos Ramones, resolvem formar uma banda seguindo a linha dos ídolos. Em 1998, Dino sai da banda, e Freak o substitui no baixo.
Por volta de 2000, The Rewinders começa a agregar elementos sessentistas às suas músicas, em especial influências dos Beach Boys. Dão, portanto, uma pitada de surf music ao punk rock ramoníaco.
Em 2002, gravam o seu primeiro cd, The Rewinders, com 16 músicas próprias. O disco segue a linha Ramones + Beach Boys, claramente as maiores influências da banda. É lançado pelo selo Big Bross records em 2003. Proporcionou shows em outras cidades que não Salvador, bem como em festivais, em especial o "3° Primeiro Campeonato Mineiro de Surf", no bar A Obra na cidade de Belo Horizonte em 2003.
Em 2008, a banda encontra-se em estúdio gravando o seu segundo disco, intitulado Halfway to Insanity, com previsão de lançamento para o final deste mesmo ano.

The Rewinders started in 1996, when three highschool classmates – John Bubble, Dino and Maluket – highly influenced by the Ramones, decided to have a band together. Take a guess in wich music style. In 98.., the formerly bass player Dino leaves the band, and Freak takes his place.
Around the year 2000, the Rewinders start to put in their music 60’s elements, in special Beach Boys vocal harmonies. So, they put a little mix of surf music into the ramoniac punk rock style, that they used to do.
In 2002, they recorded their first album, The Rewinders, with 16 own songs. The work follows the Ramones plus Beach Boys line, the clear and mainly influences of the band. It came out through Big Bross records, a small local rock and roll label. So, they had the chance to play in other brazilian cities that not Salvador, and in festivals as well, in special the "3° Primeiro Campeonato Mineiro de Surf", in the city of Belo Horizonte in 2003.
In 2008, the band is in the studio recording their second album, called Halfway to Insanity, and they hope it to come out until the end of the year.
