Music is a glue. Real and true. Despite our different morals, strange humours and constant quarrels we have bonded like family and spend each week dedciated to writing ourselves free. The Rickshaw is quite literally a vehicle of human strength. Band members Kris Raven(drums),Rob Hartnell(Guitar/BV's/Synth) and Reuben Parlane(Guitar,BV's), all hail from Aucklands North Shore, while Arem Steel(Lead Vocals) grew up consuming hip hop in the suburb of Avondale and Ants Bell(Bass/BV's) left the shores of London in an attempt to flee the bugeoning dance music scene.They were brought together by a love of music and Japanese pop culture. Our first single So Free was taken off our first E.P, re-recorded in York Street Studios under the production of Chazz Hill-Hayr(The Rabble), mastered in New York and released independently. "A catchy pop track with a dark edge, So Free alludes to this groups diverse backgrounds and influences."-NZOnAir ..The accompanying 'So Free' video was filmed over three days in the bitter cold of Wellington winter and features the band members as pseudo monsters trapped in a female world of despair and fantasy, a fitting theme for a song dark on love...
