Paul Bowen
With 10 years of DJ'ing experience Paul is known for his tribal and minimal grooves. Energetic behined the decks, you can really tell Paul Loves what he’s doing. Between his residency at *riffraff Paul is playing around Europe at events in Croatia, Switzerland, Ibiza as well as guest appearances around the UK and has billed alongside DJ's such as Smokin Jo, Will Saul, Tim Sheridan and Peace Division (Clive Henry & Justin Drake) for nights such as In Bed With Space, Tribal Sessions and Shindig.
A gifted producer he is having success in the studio. His track “less is more” was played on radio1’s show “in new DJ’s we trust” and is gathering support from the likes of Justin Drake (Peace Division) and Mistress De Funk.
Recently his track "I'll show you house" reached No18 on the worlds leading dance music download store Beatport.
Paul’s other productions are being supported by the likes of Hernan Catteneo, Anthony Pappa and John Graham (Quivver).
Lee Pennington
As well as completing a tour of the USA where he played nine gigs in twelve days, Lee spent the summer in Ibiza playing in the *riffraff arena for the crazy crazy place that is the Zoo Project. Lee has also guested alongside artists such as Matt Tolfrey, Marc Ashken and Rocky (xpress2). A respected producer of underground house music under his own name and his Section 75 aliases, he now has tracks available on many independent labels that are supported by the likes of, Hernan Catteneo, Nick Warren, Steve Lawler, John Digweed, Scott Bradford, Paul Van Dyk and many more A list Djs.
Lee’s track “the PT project” reached No. 6 in the DJ Mag chart and is being talked about across the UK and the USA. As well as his resident DJ duties at *riffraff, Lee has managed to get out and about across Europe playing his own sound to the masses.
Gow
While sunning himself on the white island of Ibiza for the summer, Gow completed his first EP for the massive german label Trapez. The stunning debut release “Jiffy Hornswoggle” smashed the best selling charts in the download stores, as well as selling out on vinyl store Juno. His quirky and massivly addictive productions show his great talent for composition and he certainly knows how to communicate through his music. While in Ibiza Gow took to the decks every Saturday for his residency at the Zoo Project where he became an instant hit with clubbers and workers alike thanks to his interesting, energetic and versatile sets.
Gow is equally successfull in the UK as he is in Ibiza with a string of guest slots at clubs like, back2basics, Shindig and Ministry of Sound and has been billed alongside artist such as Jose De Devina, Mr C, Saytek live and James Zabiela.
As part of *riffraff or as part of the Trapez roster you can expect to see a lot of him in 2009! .
James Barnsley
The newest member of the *riffraff family. After his set at *riffraff in 2007 it was an easy decision to get James on board. Keeping his style fresh and interesting with Deep, Techy house music, there is never a lack of energy on the dance floor. His skills have seen him play high profile gigs such as We Love @ Space in Ibiza, and "River Bar" for Club Class in London. James has ventured into the studio and his track 'Acid Tambarine' (made with production partner Burnski) is gaining interest from major record labels as well as tearing the roof off at Back to Basics in Leeds where James also holds a residency. In his years on the scene James has played with a countless number of the worlds top DJ's and acts. James has made quite a stir recently gaining support from numerous A-list DJ's lincluding Mark Farina. James' latest project 'Whalebow' is the back2basics after hours party. As well as running the night he is also one of the residents and can be found smashing it in most Sunday mornings in the Blackbox. *riffraff was created to provide a cutting edge house & techno event where having a good time is the focus and not the money. Its not unusual to see lampshade's, cusions and top hats being sported by pirates, OAP's, Batman & Robin and people covered in boot polish. Randomnes is never dull!
*riffraff's booking policy is simple. If we like them, we book them, unknown, known, big, small, dj set, live act, it really doesnt matter.
The unique mixture of forward thinking music, low fidelity promo and general fucking lunacy allows *riffraff to set itself from the other club nights.
The last two years have seen the *riffraff brand branch out from its monthly night in Middlesbrough to take in events in almost every major city accross the country and in 2008 hosted the infamous pool arena at the Zoo Project in Ibiza.
With the resedents finding every more success [individually and as *riffraff] they are in demand like never before, and with full diaries and regular gigs at events like The Zoo Project, Jaunt>, BackToBasics and Shindig their reputation grows stronger by the day!
2007 saw the launch of "*riffraff recordings", a record label set up to find and release fresh underground music.
