Weve been sitting here for over an hour. Nick isnt wearing a shirt, weve been eating Ramen, and weve been listening to all our favorite records. I dont think we have ever had a more serious talk about anything than the talk weve had tonight.
Ive always thought I could put everything I was feeling into words, but a night like this is a whole different case. For Christian, Nate, Nick and I the Rimmons have been the greatest part of our lives. It was friendship. It was a goodtime. It was more than I could ever ask for. It helped us grow up and realize the finer things in life. We cant ever regret something that gave us such a helping hand in becoming who we are today.
There have been rumors about all of this, about our situation as a band and I will admit there is some truth to it. But the truth is the Rimmons are breaking up and this early September will be our last show. Weve told people it was a lie and told people that we were on a break and countless other things. Truthfully, weve talked about it and it was us just not fully admitting to ourselves that it was over. We were holding on. We are calling it quits because it didnt hold the goodtime that weve been known to have before and didnt want it to jeopardize anything between the three guys Ive known since I was 5 or so. I wouldnt trade anything weve been through for anything. From 8th grade with Beau being in the band, the first show at Drifters with The Stompin Charlies, the West High School battle of the bands, to the CD release show this May. Ive always wanted to release a CD, and Im so happy weve been able to do that.
This band has helped us all grow up. Since the beginning of our high school careers weve done nothing but write shitty songs and play awesome shows with our best friends. We had no goals, we had no directionwe just had fun. Everything was based around this band and the music we love. Everyone weve hung out with, the things weve done, and the lives weve lived have all been based around this one part of our lives. We cant begin to explain how much we appreciate everything youve all given us. We wouldnt be the same people without this whole experience, and wed like to thank every single person who has shared it with us. To everyone whos listened to the music, to everyone whos screamed their lungs out, and to everyone who has supported usjust know youve given us more than anything we could ever give you.
So all we have left to ask of you is to start a band with your best friends. Spend your weekends going to a local show supporting a local band that puts everything they have into what they do. Treat kids how you want to be treated; if you do they will be there for you for always. Youll be part of something you wont forget.
