Introducing The Rinky Dinks:
Bristol’s first ukulele supergroup!

Comprising musicians drawn from a number of Bristol bands past and present and representing musical genres as diverse as hip hop, metal, house and pop; The Dinks aim to wrestle back all the best tunes from the ubiquitous guitar bands!

The idea really took off when Mike Tripp (Trippy, The Kerbs) lent Joe Brown (Trippy, Funky Onion) a ukulele over Christmas 2005. After a few rehearsals with drummer Neil Watkins (T Minus 50, All Creatures) and Trev Maybury (The Happy Testicles, Fez Townsend Big Band) on bass they played their first gig at the Mayors Arms, Bristol in April 2006.

After that first gig, Ieuan Macey (Trippy, T Minus 50) was drafted in to play bass and Trev took up the ukulele, creating the final line up of three ukuleles, a bass guitar and a snare drum.

Since then The Rinky Dinks have continued to build their live reputation in and around the South West and have played gigs as diverse as the Nailsea Beer Festival and the Bristol Harbourside Festival.

The Rinky Dinks are always busy adding some fresh new songs to their set, so make sure you catch the Rinky Dinks’ unique take on pop music from the ‘30’s to the ‘00’s soon!

9 to 5 @ The Farm, Bristol - June 2009

The Love Cats @ LAB, Bristol - April 2009

Ring of Fire @ Bristol Harbourside Festival - Summer 2007

Should I Stay Or Should I Go @ the Thekla for Bristol Harbourside Festival, 28th July 2007

Finally, we'll sign off with a big thanks to Iyers for the great vids! Nice one!

The Rinky Dinks on Twitter!

In an effort to keep up with the kids, we've got Twittered right up! Keep up with our thoughts, insights and general ramblings here!

The Rinky Dinks on Radio 6 Music Breakfast Show (again)!

We appeared on the Sean Keaveny Breakfast Show again on Boxing Day 2008. We went up to pre-record this Christmas special a couple of weeks "prior to" and ripped out 3 tunes - including a special festive number!

The Rinky Dinks On Radio 1!

Colin Murray played American Idiot from our CD on his show on Tuesday 4th November and was very nice about it too! Lovin' your work Colin!

The Rinky Dinks on BBC Radio 6 Music!

What a blast, appearing live on proper, national digital radio! On 21 March '08 we appeared on Shaun Keaveny’s Breakfast Show.

We played two tunes live on air, had a good chat with the man (see our media player for the full lowdown), and "Toasted The Nation" too!

The climax to the show was playing Won't Get Fooled Again live with Shaun guesting on his own flying V uke, watched by none other than Alan Carr!?! It was a surreal yet amazing experience, something we could easily get used to! Massive thanks to Shaun for his hospitality on the day, if you've never listened to the show make sure you tune in!

Check our living legend Iyer's latest vid - proper job!

Hey!

We realise how this is quite obviously automated and you will probably consider it as spam and ignore it.. but if you are feeling the need for a some fresh new music please visit our page and give our new EP a listen. We've worked really hard on it and had some excellent feedback so far and would love to hear what you guys think.

"Exciting, Striding and assured. It has an energy reminiscant of everything that was good about the Klaxons debut album.." - BBC Radio Bristol.

"The overall sound echoes that of Bloc Party but with great conviction and sophistication. Go see them live if you can." - iTunes review.

It's also available to buy through our website and itunes if you really do like it.
