Introducing The Rinky Dinks:
Bristol’s first ukulele supergroup!
Comprising musicians drawn from a number of Bristol bands past and present and representing musical genres as diverse as hip hop, metal, house and pop; The Dinks aim to wrestle back all the best tunes from the ubiquitous guitar bands!
The idea really took off when Mike Tripp (Trippy, The Kerbs) lent Joe Brown (Trippy, Funky Onion) a ukulele over Christmas 2005. After a few rehearsals with drummer Neil Watkins (T Minus 50, All Creatures) and Trev Maybury (The Happy Testicles, Fez Townsend Big Band) on bass they played their first gig at the Mayors Arms, Bristol in April 2006.
After that first gig, Ieuan Macey (Trippy, T Minus 50)
was drafted in to play bass and Trev took up the ukulele, creating the final line up of three ukuleles, a bass guitar and a snare drum.
Since then The Rinky Dinks have continued to build their live reputation in and around the South West and have played gigs as diverse as the Nailsea Beer Festival and the Bristol Harbourside Festival.
The Rinky Dinks are always busy adding some fresh new songs to their set, so make sure you catch the Rinky Dinks’ unique take on pop music from the ‘30’s to the ‘00’s soon!

The Rinky Dinks on BBC Radio 6 Music!
What a blast, appearing live on proper, national digital radio! On 21 March '08 we appeared on Shaun Keaveny’s Breakfast Show.
We played two tunes live on air, had a good chat with the man (see our media player for the full lowdown), and "Toasted The Nation" too!
The climax to the show was playing Won't Get Fooled Again live with Shaun guesting on his own flying V uke, watched by none other than Alan Carr!?! It was a surreal yet amazing experience, something we could easily get used to! Massive thanks to Shaun for his hospitality on the day, if you've never listened to the show make sure you tune in!
