SixNationState return after eight months of studio hermiting, claiming an end to their total withdrawal of doing what has always defined them… live performance. With a fierce desire to take to the stage and armed with an immense catalogue of material the four-piece who have been known for their incredible, high energy shows are eager to show you why they do this.
Gerry says:The last river rat pack was one of the best weeks of my life. Being on a barge with all my best friends and a shit load of amazing musicians was something else. I was fully inspired and drawn into what it was all about, like the community togetherness of everyone there, like we were part of something at that moment. I think it was the hottest week we’d had last year and the whole experience was like a surreal fantasy. I can’t wait to do it all over!
Named after a night flying moth, Smokey Angle Shades formed in London last year playing earthy Rock ‘n’ Roll with an emphasis on four part harmonies. The band consists of Fred Stitz from Germany, Pat Smyth and Nipsy Russell from Northern Ireland, Ned Crowther from England and Antonio Feola from Italy. Like their namesake, following the light and navigating by the moon Smokey Angle Shades are gathering momentum and taking flight with their new recordings now up on myspace. Proud to be boarding the barges this year for the River Rat Pack, up up and away!
Before moving to London Nat Jenkins lived in Brighton for three years where he played alongside emerging bands such as The Maccabees and Peggy Sue, and hosted his own residency at the Prince Albert. Since then he has supported The Kooks on two UK tours and in Italy, France and the US. He spent a year playing in Central America where he performed in small venues from Mexico to Nicaragua from which he hitch hiked to and from. Last year he played in New York at sold out venues such as The Williamsburg Hall of music, and the Bowery Club where he supported the Duke Spirit. In 2008 he and Ally Wolf curated the River Rat Tour. The tour saw bands such as Mumford Sons, Jay Jay Pistolet and The Golden Silvers tour Britain’s canals by boat. Nat is currently hosting a residency at Soho’s Troy Bar and preparing for the second River Rat tour. He plays in Paris each month and will begin a residency there this Autumn.
One man who sings songs about sex, drugs and politics. Plays lots of festivals and has graced many a stage over the last few years, supporting the likes of Kate Nash and Frank Turner. He swears alot and is known to graffiti his name on toilet walls. He believes he was asked to join the barge tour because he's a strong swimmer and once upon a time was a lifeguard.
The Wild Wolves deliver a sublime concoction of folk, ska and swing that is so delicate, smooth and downright pop-boppingly fantastic in its delivery that even the most miserable of misers would be hardpressed not to seriously enjoy it. They consist of a supergroup of talented musicians who've played with an impressive list of bands including Vincent Vincent and the Villains, Captain Black, Larrikin Love, Patrick Wolf, ODUO and Mr Hudson & The Library. With their strong line up, they are certainly an act to catch now.

CIARA HAIDAR
Ciara Haidar- Songwriter, solo performer, band leader, musical collaborator and classically trained musician. Busy girl. Any spare time is spent doing what any 23 year old Londoner might do- she goes out, does her thing and maintains an involvement in various projects with the many creatives around her. She has a voice that can sing the birds from their daydreams and awake any sleepy time of day into action with lyrics that can only come from the heart and head of someone of a half-Lebanese, half-Irish young London lady. Ciara is currently writing songs for her debut album and working with producers from various walks of the musical life. Expect a few surprises....

"Bequiffed with a menacing scowl he let out the most amazing sound accapella style and we were all bewitched - fucking amazing..."
With a focus on harmonies, grooves and cleverly-crafted lyrics, Cheka are quickly
becoming a recognised band in London's music scene. Formed whilst living on a barge
on the Thames, the band have now relocated to a lock-up under the Westway. Regularly
pulling in a faithful crowd at their monthly night 'Club Foot', the band have also played
high-profile nights such as The Bronze Club, and festivals 'Artisit' in Galway and 'Abril No
Tan Cruel' in Madrid. With a new demo produced by Brett Shaw, who has worked with
Florence and the Machine, The Twang and Nikolai Fraiture of The Strokes, it appears that
their blend of rock n roll and rhythm and blues will not be such a well-kept secret for
long.
Cheka have been featured by Huw Stephens on his Radio1 Introducing show, and played a showcase set on DIESEL radio as a warm up for their performance at the Shangri
La stage and Strummerville Campfire at this year’s Glastonbury festival. They have been
top of the Strummerville download chart for 6 consecutive weeks with their song ‘The
Fool”, and recently headlined the charity’s Summer Sessions festival.
The Riff Raff’s sound captures your attention. Masterful in combination, intelligent wordplay weaves throughout four-piece vocal harmonies, infectious melodies and intricate string/guitar arrangements.
“Beautifully complex melodies, definitely the new sound” –Sir Paul McCartney
