So ... we are ... The River Rocks!
After considering about 108 names we have settled on this one. It is rather appropriate, since each of us lives on or very close to a major river in our respective home towns: the Charles River (Glenn, Cambridge), the Waters River (Gary, Danvers), the Porter River (Michael, Danvers), and the Ipswich River (Rob, Ipswich).
We come from varied musical experiences, but we have similar roots: 1960s British Invasion bands, Folk Rock and Country Rock bands such as The Byrds, Poco, The Eagles, Gram Parsons, etc.
Three of us answered Michael's craigslist ad this past Spring, and we all met for our first practice in Michael's basement on Sunday, May 6th. It's not an exaggeration to say that things clicked from day one: musical interests, individual aspirations, abilities, and, most of all, a neat chemistry of our personalities. We have a good time doing what we do! Fortunately, the very special ladies in our lives (Julia, Bonnie, Susan, Melissa) all share in our fun!
Another fun aspect of The River Rocks is that we have no one dominating presence or established leader. We all contribute more or less equally in the business of "being a band." We all write songs, we all sing lead, we all add harmonies. Although we have individual strong sides, we bring those talents to the benefit of the full band.
At this juncture, we have about 30 or so originals and a half dozen cover songs as part of our repertoire. The list is slowly growing, but our aim is not quantity, but quality. We hope to soon have a full repertoire of good, solid original songs that hopefully will please your ears and inspire you, or will stir some emotion within you.
We look forward to bringing the music of The River Rocks to a pub, country fair, open mic, or other favorite venue in your home town! See you in the near future!

Hej Robert!
Cinco abrazos
