Stuck on his native Reunion Island (Indian Ocean), Fred Banor a.k.a. Thermoboy never walked down the "world music" path as his dad once predicted. Raised to the sounds of U2, The Cure and mainstream 80's pop music, his musical tastes sharpened through the years and started pointing to bands like The Smiths, Prefab Sprout, Joy division and R.E.M. Back in 1990, His first band, Peanuts, became quickly reminescent of various international acts that had somehow managed to reach the emptiness of Indian Ocean : Pixies, Nirvana and P.J. Harvey started influencing his songwriting, constantly developing and reaching maturity while discovering lo-fi acts like Sebadoh, Pavement and Pedro The Lion. Years after its demise, Peanuts morphed into Thermoboy, claiming its right to a "line-up libre". Thermoboy 's music is still played in trio : Olivier, Fred's very own brother, stands behind the drumkit and joins forces with bassist Keng Sam, and a random analogic synthetizer which was stolen to The Rentals. Thermoboy are actually focusing on songwirting, and released the "Son Of A Broken Home E.P." as a free download on their website on Dec. 20th 2008.
