The Road Home promotes singer/songwriters, acoustic, blues, jazz, folk and world musicians to share their stories, experience and talent with a focused audience in several settings in Indianapolis. The Road Home will use proceeds from concerts to help artists as well as two national music charities.
Sweet Relief provides assistance to all types of career musicians who are struggling to make ends meet while facing illness, disability, or aged-related problems. Music's most precious resource -- the artist -- sometimes needs protection.
Road Recovery is dedicated to helping young people battle addiction and other adversities by harnessing the influence of entertainment industry professionals who have confronted similar crises and wish to share their experience and knowledge, through music and mentoring.
_______________________________________________
The concept: A place to present music the way it was meant to be heard. Imagine the beginnings of folk and acoustic music - playing instruments and sharing stories both profound & funny, on front porches & in family kitchens throughout the heartland. A relaxed atmosphere that is quiet and family friendly, with attention and respect paid to songs and stories.
The Road Home believes that providing this type of setting for the artists, helps them connect on a deeper level with their audience. This also helps develop a connection with new listeners, which can be difficult to do in larger venues as artists sometimes struggle to be heard over televisions, cell phones and the din of bar patrons.
The Road Home believes in and supports many of the city's larger venues but during these difficult times it isn't always easy to provide fair payment to touring artists. With less overhead, The Road Home concept aims to keep the music coming through our city and our many musical communities, which benefits the artist, as well as the city and these two stellar organizations.
We hope you will join us in making this musical love letter to Indianapolis a huge success!
Please see our Welcome blog for more information on our plans and how you can help!
Who I'd like to meet:
Musicians, artists, photographers, promoters, appreciators, teachers, healers, environmentalists, mentors, charitable organizations, non-profits, music fans and neighbors.
Everyone who has been profoundly touched by the art and healing power of music, storytelling and it's rich history.
YOU are the key that unlocks the door to The Road Home.
Just saw this add request, Gabrielle--had a great time playing Mother Nature's Sun and looking forward to that again! Yeah, I guess i do have a few projects up my sleeve, eh? :P
Thank you for supporting the OneCareU.S. MySpace profile! Hope you will join us at our blog and pass along to your friends what we're all finding out about the concept of a Single-Payer National Health program. It's the difference between TRUE Universal Health Insurance and phony schemes for private insurance companies to continue business as usual. If we want REAL healthcare reform then we all need to spread the word!
