The original songs range from trad blues through to contemporary funk blues, ballads and jazz influenced material. His favourite writers include Larry Garner, Richard Thompson, Tony Joe White and Bill Withers. Robin uses Guild and Squier electric guitars and Gallo and Music Man amps. He’s currently grooving to Nerina Pallot , Martin Simpson, Albert King and Ana Popovic. Robin endorses Cream Instrument Cables. R2 described "A Time and Place" as "A dynamic, hugely enjoyable album" and commented on Robin's vocals as "coming from the same rough hewn place as Tony Joe White.". They also described the band as "tight as the proverbial..." Guitar and Bass called the album "wholesome and satisfying.". The Sheffield Telegraph commented that on the song "Tell Me", "Vocals stray into Solomon Burke territory, a juxtaposition against the whisky-laced singing of the track's album counterparts.". On his guitar playing, Grahame Rhodes of bluesinthenorthwest.com commented that the album is "dominated by his fiery, fluent guitar work, and ably assisted by a fine band, from the cream of the Steel City – and all self-written bar one track by bass player Danny Fox.". Rootstime.be described his guitar playing as "corrosive". Guitar and Bass observed "Sheffield bluesman steps up to the plate with a steely tone and a suitably big band." Robin is "Sheffield's favourite bluesman" according to acclaimed British bluesman King Rollo. The band play "Outstanding contemporary blues" - Neil Ramsden. "So damn cool!!" - Paul Ewing. “Gritty Guitar” – Blues In Britain. ****************************************************************** Robin Hoare is entering a vibrant phase in his career with the release of his new album “A Time and Place”. The album features ten original songs which show a strong vision for his blues. The songs tell it how it is about today’s world from the credit crisis to online gambling addiction. As well as being a contemporary blues story teller, Robin is one of the most distinctive blues guitarists working today. He improvises fluently on his trademark Guild guitars and his live shows feature close interplay between him and gifted bass man Danny Fox. Whether he’s kicking it with his regular trio or a bigger band a Robin Hoare show is a blues feast taking in flavours of funk, jazz and rock. If you’re tired of the same old same old blues this is the man to see. As respected Sheffield journalist Bill Auckland puts it “Robin honours the blues tradition without being a slave to it.” Blues to help you get down not to get you down.************************************************************* ****************************************************************** BUY YOUR COPY DIRECT WITH YOUR CREDIT/ DEBIT CARD VIA PAYPAL.
